OF COURSE the U.S. Constitution gives special privileges to religious groups ! The U.S. Constitution also gives special privileges to newspapers. The FIRST AMENDMENT to the U.S. Constitution states in part: "Congress shall make NO LAW [EMPHASIS ADDED] respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press..." It doesn't say the same thing about carpenters, plumbers, coopers nor brewers.<quoted text>
No where does the Constitution give special privileges to religious groups. And this goes to show that Christ-insanity-ists can not be trusted to do the right thing if elected to public office because they give special favors and tax breaks to their friends and political contributors.
Congress knows that with out government help the Boy Scouts would cease to exist. If that is the case so be it. It is not a legitimate function of our Government to give our tax dollars to groups that they think are worthwhile while denying funds to groups we think are worth while.
Politicians who rob Peter to pay Paul are destroying our country and they do not even know they are the cause of it.
It SPECIFICALLY SINGLES OUT religion for "special protection", because the Founding Fathers deemed it THAT important.
Back to jr. high school American History for ya !
