So Limbaugh and O'Reilly are throwing the religious right under the bus. Wow!

Oh, they just know which way the wind is blowing, and want to be the trend-setters. The religious right will follow their demagogues, eventually, and they'll all be saying that they were in support of gay rights all along. And they'll say that it was all because of their religion.

Don't hold your breath. There are still people with backbone and a very strong faith in God in this country. They won't be snookered.

Limbaugh's stock in trade is goading people into an unthinking reactionary panic.

This is just his new tool for the purpose.

He wants to see an Amendment battle. All the panic and terror he can spread. All the lies to tell. Yummy!

Since your god is still just a myth ... that's not a very strong backbone.

So you don't think gay and lesbina people should be allowed to marry one another ?

It doesn't take any backbone to discriminate against a minority. That's the EASIST thing for a person in the majority to do. If you want to display backbone, then you should challenge your own presumptions, and stand up for the conviction that even gay people fall in love and raise families, and that those families deserve every bit of stability and protection that yours enjoys.

As full of hot air as I think O'Reilly and Limbaugh are, they aren't trying to "snooker" you when they reason that you should not be trying to make a pariah-class out of entire demographic of people.

No one's god is asking its followers to do that. It seems that any worthwhile god would be trying to unite ALL its people, rather than divide them and pit them against one another. If your faith in your god leads you to want to uphold his order that men shall not lie with men, then what happens to that faithfulness when it comes to the REST of the verse, which calls for gay people to be put to death?

If you can recognize that a moral people would abandon and move past such barbarism, then maybe you can move past any "godly" laws which call on you to demand that other people live as you prefer them to. If there's a god, then have faith that he'll guide YOUR life in the way that's best for YOU, and leave other people to determine their own fates for themselves. Whatever your faith calls you to do, it can't POSSIBLY also insist that I live according to the same faith, against my will.

Whatta you gonna do when gay marriage IS allowed? When DOMA is struck down? Move? I hear there is a lovely land where gays are NOT allowed, where everyone believes in God, and the country is ruled by the word of God.

You would fit right in, it's called Iran.
