The chickens have come home to roost, o C17 missionaries. The British anti-buggery and sodomy laws are still on the books in many modern former colonies. Smallpox was not enough – they had to destroy indigenous cultures and religions as well… all to satisfy the needs of a medieval pope. What have we learned?

When I have a link that copies out to be multiple lines, I usually try to backspace the beginning of one line back onto the end of the preceding line. If a character on the preceding line disappears, I simply replace the deleted character, and can be pretty confident that TOPIX hasn't inserted a break.
I've read about plugins for Firefox that will create shortened URLs for pasting, but I haven't tried any of them.
The breaks aren't appearing until the post posts, when I paste the links, they're fine, no breaks. It might be like the ongoing problem of nothing actually appearing in my inbox of their message system, despite the fact that it says I have 9 unread messages.

Anyone around here familiar enough with computers to know why mine keeps doing that? It's a perfectly functioning link when I paste it, but when it shows up on the forum, it's broke like that. What's even weirder, if you reply to my post, the link will appear in the quoted text unbroken. I don't have that problem when I post a story, every last link I post, even ones I cut and paste myself, all work like they're supposed to.
It looks like Topix breaks up long strings of characters in some situations, try using a link shortening site like bit.ly or some such. I honestly forgot all the short URL sites out there just now. But that may prevent it.

Another third world country demonstrates its third world education, and demonstrates again why religion is the source of most hate and violence in the world.
Meanwhile, the christards in the US and elsewhere remain silent on the Ugandan government's war crimes, the rapes and murders of innocent people by its army. It seems as long at the government makes anti-gay laws, American christards will support mass murder and violence of any sort.
Especially if they can work through proxies and keep their own hands as clean as Pontius.

We have to be very patient with the Africans.

Remember that it took hundreds of years before even the Europeans were civilized enough to treat homosexual people in a decent manner.

Traditional African culture had been civilized enough to treat homosexual people in a fairly decent manner, at least from what is really known about it. Official homophobia is a legacy of European colonialism and particularly Victorian era efforts at standardizing colonial law with that of merry old England. "Buggery" became a crime for the first time in most places in the late 19th century. When independence happened, it was just one of the many areas of the law that they took with them. From what I've read, unless one was creating some sort of public scandal, there weren't any real efforts to address the "problem". Modern day homophobia in Africa comes to them, primarily anyways, courtesy of the influence of American based Christians. Our Evangelical movements have been very successful over the last 40 years in converting English speaking Africans, producing an entire generation which grew up hearing that God says homosexuality, ANY homosexuality, is something to be punished and these are the people who now have the power to do something about it.

The reality of the situation is that patience isn't a particularly great option for African homosexuals. The villagers literally are gathering with pitchforks and torches, all with God's approval and at least a wink and a nod from the government. We're being used as both figurative and literal sacrificial goats by good Christians hoping that God will finally make it better for them.

It was the Europeans that invaded and imposed christianity onto them, and christian warfare on muslims that turned them into nutbags as well.

I know very little about the cultures of pre-christian/pre-muslim Africa, but even money says they weren't mass murdering lunatics. Most of the North Americans weren't (until the Central and South American cultures arose), nor were the indigenous Australians.

The barbarity in African countries today is a legacy of European-imposed dictatorships and patronizing attitudes like "They aren't capable of governing themselves" (read: "They're savages")...which is strange, since those people DID govern themselves successfully for thousands of years before that.

It didn't help.

On a side note, I had a roommate back in college who was Malay (Tamil), Muslim (not practicing openly, Kansas in the early 80's after all) and very much Gay. He had reconciled his faith with that part of who he was, so it is in fact possible, even in Islam.
