So you're arguing he should be fired entirely, not just recuse. Interesting although illegal.
Supreme court judges can be impeached as well as the president. It's part of the "balance of powers." They are appointed for life, but they are held accountable. However unlikely it would be that Scalia would be impeached and convicted, the prospect does put a smile on my face.

Again with the stupid snark?
Is that all you have?
so student loans are not an inducement to go to college for the poor?Denying reality is not an argument...
And do you get that under your description the rich therefore would not get EQUAL TREATMENT?
So we have a SEPARATE program for entrepreneurs?
I thought that was inherently UNEQUAL?
While you are busy insisting I am not a lawyer, I am busy eating your lunch...
just like we shouldhave for gays?
So what's for lunch, Jane? Humble pie? As usual your comments show you have absolutely no idea what it's like NOT to be rich and pampered. Do you honestly think racking up $100,000 loan for a college education plus 4 years of study is an inducement to get a college education? Did you notice that it is the student's loan, not his parents? Did you even notice that it is a loan?

You did not have to tell us you weren't a lawyer; your lack of intellectual ability is completely evident. Your disdain for anyone that isn't like you is perhaps your least endearing quality. You obviously have delusions of grandeur; please bore "your kind" with them. You have absolutely nothing new or of interest to us; all bigots are pretty much the same. Why don't you go back to your country club and have a martini with "your type of people?"

Really?

What idiot would expect ANY person to be "tolerant" of any group of irrational people that want to directly harm them, and their families?

At least try to be logical.

If the labels fit, and they DO, wear them proudly. People who, for animus sake alone, try to create and support laws that HARM good American gay folks, are indeed irrational haters, homophobes, biased, and anti-gay.

There is no way to spin that, Dear. It comes out of your own dirty little mouths and dim little brains.

I know it feels good to rub it in now that the scales of justice are tilting more in our direction every year now. But it is important to firmly establish as a point of law for all time, that equal fundamental rights should never depend on any vote, any amount of popular opinion, any Pope or any interpretation of any religious verse, your neighbor, nor the government.
While we have lived our entire lives being denied the equal rights and protections required by the constitution and promised in the founding documents, we need to make sure it can never happen again to anyone.
"To those that believe in and fought for civil rights, that marched to end discrimination and win equality, you must not become that which you hated.... Those that support civil and human rights cannot, must not, become perpetrators of discrimination against others based upon race, religion, culture, sexual orientation." (The Rev. Jesse Jackson, speaking in opposition to California's Proposition 8)
Sorry, but I just can't be that generous to those who've harmed my family and continue to fight my equal rights every day.

That said, I only discriminate against others based on their past bigotry, NOT their race, religion, culture, etc. I know many blacks and catholics and jews and hispanics who supported my equal rights; they have nothing to worry about.

The bigots need to understand their actions have real world consequences. I cannot & will not simply turn the other cheek.

I did not know that Supreme Court justices could be impeached. I stand corrected.

And what will you do if your worst nightmare comes true -- the Supreme Court rules that civil marriage for same-sex couples is a fundamental right and ALL states must allow them. It may not happen next year but it will in our lifetime, I am sure of that. It would be great if the court ruled that way but I don't believe the court currently has the cajones to rule that way at this time (although they probably know it's inevitable).

Why do you hate equality so much? It would be delusional to believe that gays and lesbians would ever return to the closet.

He needs 4 more justices to do that. Any idea where he's going to get those?

You should take a chill pill before they legalize gay marriage so you don't pull a Sandy Hook. You seem the type.

Please cite an example of a law that was instigated and put on the books solely by a judge with no involvement of anyone else. No case before him or her. No law being challenged. A judge, just all on his or her own, decided that something is a law and presto!! It's a law!!
Get back with us on that one, okay?
<quoted text>
We'll see....
<quoted text>
That's a law?? Since when? I thought it was a failed political speech. Please do cite the law you're referring to and explain to us how a judge made it law.
<quoted text>
Judges give a thumbs up or a thumbs down to cases that are brought before them. They don't have the opportunity to rule on a case unless it's brought before them, right? But still, all they can do is give approval to, or throw out, and existing law, right??
So how, exactly, does a judge, who ONLY has the power to approve or throw out an existing law, CREATE a law? How does that work. You're a lawyer, right? You should be able to explain that, right?
<quoted text>
Nope. No hate here. Just questioning why you keep claiming to be an attorney when you clearly have no knowledge of the law or how our government works. If you want to characterize that as "hate", I suppose you can, but it certainly doesn't make much sense to do so.
<quoted text>
I have never claimed to be a lawyer or even have an extraordinary knowledge of the law. I didn't even get an "A" in 8th grade Civics class (I got a B+). And yet, I STILL know more about the law and our government than you do. Doesn't that seem odd to you?? It sure does to me!
<quoted text>
Only in your head, Poodle.
<quoted text>
I'm ignorant because you, the pretend lawyer, knows less about the law than me?? Really?? How does THAT work?
<quoted text>
Probably six or seven minutes. Tops. How much time have YOU wasted trying to convince us that you're an attorney when you clearly know virtually nothing about our legal system?
you do get that you are not a lawyer and you have no knowledge of the law and you are critiquing me?

silly move Johnny...

I mean, you are insisting a judges rulings are not the law....
nowhere to go with that...

corporations have a first amendment right, right? What legislature found that?
oh right, the scotus ruled on a controversy and made law..
maybe you should spend less time pretending to knwo the law and more time studying it?

you can use the time wasted insisting I am not a lawyer...

so are you suggesting that our grant system and federal student loan programs are not intended to encourage college?
If so, you are an idiot, pure an simple...

I am surprised you would insult me in your fist post to me, I would rather you didn't and instead focused on the issue and made a real point which you neglected to do here...
I am not hopeful...

So I'm the bigot. Which rights do you have that I do not want you to have? What clubs, organizations, schools, etc do I not want you to be able to attend/join? None, idiot. Now here's your homework; please do it before bedtime tonight. Look up the word BIGOT and tell me what the definition is. Any collegiate dictionary will do.

So you're just going to keep on throwing up smokescreens and insisting that you have a clue what you're talking about with the hope that everyone will eventually start buying the crap you're selling?

This entire post of yours if proof positive that you have ZERO education, knowledge, or understanding of the law or our government's structure. Even a first-year law student would never make the claims you just made.

Your claim that judges rulings are law is the same as claiming that toast is the same as eggs because they are both often served at breakfast.

Your claim that corporations enjoy first amendment rights is pure fiction.

Court rulings are court rulings. They are NOT laws. They may effect laws. They may *remove* laws. They may reinforce laws. But they are *NOT* laws. And no court ruling can make them so.

And someone that's been to law school would know all those things, wouldn't they?

I would think that the idiot in the room here is the one that doesn't understand the difference between encouraging certain behaviour and simply lowing the hurdles that must be cleared for that activity to happen among people that already wish to do it.

Since you're kind of an idiot, I'll make it clear--I'm talking about you, dear.
