Equality under secular law SHOULD trump ANY religious beliefs.

Unfortunately, there are many religious leaders, such as members of the Roman Catholic Church, who are adamantly opposed to that idea. And THAT is UN-AMERICAN.

I am .. the ignorant or murderously-fanatical segment of America , that is .. But don't despair .. you'll still have plenty of adherents : like various religious sects , One-Million-Moms , Bryan Fischer and Maggie Gallagher , to name just a few ..(I thought that would cheer-up your bigot's heart..). While you're at it please send a list of all the ways homosexual marriage has ruined YOUR life .. But try to be original .. Both Americas are rather tired of the same old clueless , baseless arguments .. And , while you're at it , try to keep your cool .. " righteous " indignation could be bad fo your heart . Remember : the coffin you allude to is sure to have room for more .

I agree wholeheartedly! Organized religion of any sort should have absolutely NO say in a secular society such as ours! Again, this is NOT a theocracy so they should keep their noses where they belong in the church of their choice!

I turned on the TV yesterday to get a stock market update, and the station was on MSNBC. Before I changed it I got caught up in a discussion with an African American minister. One of his comments was that he doesn't believe the Congress should page through the Bible when writing law. Although he does not believe in Marriage Equality, he doesn't believe that the government should force that opinion on the public. He's not on our side in the marriage debate, but at least he believes there should be a separation of church and state.

It sounds like that minister is one of the tiny, tiny, infinitesimally small number of religious advocates that understand that using the Bible (or any religious text) as basis for secular law goes both ways.

Of all people, those that hold religion as an important part of their life should be the MOST concerned about any movement to force religious doctrine into secular law. After all, what WOULD the Baptists and the Fundies do if the Catholic doctrine of divorcees being banned from remarrying became secular law and stopped their serial marriage train????

Just think of the screaming and crying THAT would create!!

It's taken centuries, but most Americans are finally coming to understand that the only way to protect religious freedom is to keep government & religion separate.

Or maybe the orthodox Jews banning pork? Boy would that be a blow to the economy in Missouri.

I think that most Americans see homosexuality for what is truly is; a sexual perversion, deviation and mental illness.

Although, in their hearts they know this to be true, most Americans do not express their true feelings in public for fear of persecution by the Left-wing Liberal Nazis that deem what is and what is not politically correct.

Then you really probably should give up "thinking" sweetie, you're not very good at it. Everything you "think" is badly malinformed and has no basis in any reality but your own.

No, it's not. It's a perfect description. Liberals are usually totalitarian, and brook NO dissent from their Obamaniac-Stalinist line.
