Homosexual marriage is legal

Jun 27, 2013 | Posted by: Joe DeCaro | Full story: www.examiner.com

In a 5-4 decision, which, did not surprise anyone, the Supreme Court demonstrated once again that the federal high court is willing to impose by judicial edict what the voters of the individual States in the majority of States have refused to do: allow the marriage of homosexuals ...

If Paul was preaching heresy why did the apsotle Peter say this in 2 Peter 3:15-16 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation, even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own damnation. Paul himself said that if any man preaches anyother gospel let him be accursed. So if Paul was preaching something contrary to what the other apostles were preaching why didn't Peter give a warning to these people he was writing to, to beware of Pauls doctrine?

<quoted text>While God ordained and blessed marriage, Paul believed such things were no longer necessary for the Christian. The return of Jesus was imminent, Christians don't need such distractions. You were to walk in the ways of Jesus. Sex and/or marriage weren't along His path, what makes you think that they should be a part of your own? For Paul, sex was moral failing, period. Therefore an inability to restrain one's passions, a sign of moral failure. Paul teaches that for the Christian, marriage is just marginally better than you going to hell, because he knows you're going to probably have sex that you really don't need. Paul was basically asking this question; when Jesus gets back, is that REALLY what you want Him to find you doing?
The idea of nuns and priests comes from his writings, because Paul valued celibacy so much. Also from some pagan Roman temples, such as the Vestal Virgins.

... which would violate the OT command to "be fruitful and multiply".

Becoming a Christian didn't mean Paul stopped being Jewish; the New Covenant is the fulfillment, not the contradiction, of the Old Covenant.

That didn't stop him from believing that the end of the world was coming, and people should stop all the icky sex stuff. Marriage was only for those that were not capable of that.

It just shows one of the contradictions within the Bible. Thanks for pointing that out.

actually, saul only eschewed women, and preached against men even touching a woman. it's an historical fact that saul was well gay. his main catamite was timothy.

Who said Paul was preaching heresy? I didn't, didn't even mean to imply that he was.

There is more than just the way you're thinking for one to be fruitful and multiply. There's more than enough souls in need of saving without you making more of them. You be fruitful and multiply among those already here.

Sometimes it helps to actually read a post BEFORE you edit down for your reply. The way Paul intended for Christians to be fruitful and multiply didn't involve baby making, but I already said that to you, maybe you will get it this time.

In Christianity ala Paul, a Christian is to walk the path of Jesus, do as He did, don't do as He didn't. The reward is heaven, the catch is He never married and He certainly never did that, so if you're going to talk the talk, your highest calling was to walk the walk. It's why for its first 1500 years, in the Western Christian church, marriage was only for those who had already fornicated themselves up a spiritual b*st*rd.

O.K. Since Joe won't or CAN'T answer, how do you plan on explaining to God why you treated so many so badly?

In this day Islam tends to be the most severe danger to homosexuals. Sadly it doesn't seem to be looking better for them in the Muslim world anytime soon, it seems to be getting worse as more Muslims go away from secularism in their communities and their governments. The rising tide of conservative Islam is growing and equal rights for women and homosexuals is going down the drain. But I have hope that we will defeat them.
Pointing out how badly Muslims treat gays and lesbians isn't the same as justifying how badly chriSTAINS treat gays and lesbians.

Imminent, or ready to take place doesn't mean that return can't take place a long time from now; Paul founded churches and appointed Bishops throughout Asia Minor for future generations of Christians.
Still avoiding my question. What are you planning to tell God as justification for the shabby way you treat the least of His creations? That you were just following the Vatican's orders?

<quoted text>There you go blaming the Bible for your own free will choice of interpretations of it. ... "my" imminent comes from Merriam-Webster.
The Paul who said it was better to remain unmarried (1 Cor 7:1) also said let each have his own wife and her own husband in the very next verse. Perhaps you should have read the entire chapter?
Paul also said it was better to marry than to "burn" (1 Cor 7:9).
AND Paul also said: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

He also said, "Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,

To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men....But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain."

So how are you planning to justify to God why you behave like a goat instead of one of His Sheep?
Matthew 25:31-46

Since you insist on quoting your personal Savior Saul of Tarsus and not any of the disciples or even Jesus I can guess the answer anyway.

When the Pope in WW2 stayed silent, the people didn't think he was right. You're trying the same gambit the Nazi soldiers used. "I was just following orders".

Yet 1 Cor 13, a passage on love that Paul also penned, is recited during many Christian marriage ceremonies to this day.
So? Sorry but most Christian marriages I attended didn't have the words, "Bless us Father so we can pump out babies better than a puppy farm bitch".

Too bad most those marriages ceremonies never mention two of the pillars of Christianity:
Matthew 25:31-46
Luke 10:25-37

For your types marriage is always about money, property and providing more children for indoctrination into your cult of hate.

According to the Amplified Bible's version of 1 Cor 7:9, it's not "weak morals," but an inability to restrain one's passions.
And how could a rabbi from Tarsus teach such a negative view of marriage after it was ordained by God in Genesis?
The Biblehub.com is a good resource. Type in any passage and you'll get translations from many Bibles. And those translations often dispute the "common wisdom" so many use in interpreting scripture.

As for your question I am surprised you know so little of the contradictions Saul writes. He was one of the first to utilise political correctness. His words and ideas often bent to play to the local ideology of the group he was writing to.

If any of you read ALL of Romans in one sitting it's obvious Saul was taking them to task for behaving the same way many so called modern christians do today.

BTW Mom and the Nuns and Priests should have taught you when you were little that saying I love you when your mouth is full of lies is impolite. And sinful in nature.
