Genitalia at the time of birth determines gender.
And so if you are one of the roughly 1% of the population born a true hermaphrodite, then you are ... which gender?

To me, a man that thinks he's a woman but is still attracted to men is just gay with a twist. Genitalia defines the sex of an individual, no matter what he or she thinks.
Bingo! That is exactly why she is getting a tu-tu and boob transplant; so her newly transplanted tu-tu and boobs will accurately define her sex

That may be true, but I haven't seen any of it in anything I have read on-line or in print. Either way, I'm not all that interested. I might note that I expected more responses about my comment about treatment on the government dime, but no one noticed, I guess.
I really have to apologize, but this time I agree with *you* completely. First the little convicted felon wants attention by divulging classified material to that suspected sex offender Julian Assange. Then the little convicted felon wants even more attention by finally deciding he's not gay (as his defense team claimed and reported), he's really a woman. And the little convicted felon wants the taxpayer to foot the bill for his lastest desperate ploy for attention... before he is deservedly forgotten and relegated to oblivion. I hope the nut jobs supporting this bullsh!t are ready for the well-deserved hassle they're in for.

If the nut jobs are so intent on Mr. Manning becoming Ms. Manning, let them pay for it!

I haven't followed the case that closely, but I've been aware that the little traitor was transgendered right from the start - not gay. I'm not sure who reported it first, but it's been common knowledge.

I have no idea if manning is gay as well as trasngendered - it's quite possible.

Well color me surprised. I may not have stated it with all the insulting language around it, since my only objection is the amount of government money that may be spent on his, uh, "condition"(?). I'm not unsympathetic to what he is experiencing, I'm just a little conservative on the fiscal issue.

I should have put this in my original response to your post, but it eluded me for a moment. My feeling is that if he does desire treatment and/or surgery in the future, maybe his supporters would be kind enough to chip in the money needed. I don't see a connection between his sexual identity and his, now judged, unlawful actions. I feel this way about any mental anomalies that people may have which do not directly affect direct illegal activities.

Your responses are fine. Yes, I'm a bit cranky that the little convicted felon committed his crimes. I'm fine with disagreeing re my "insulting language" (my cranky factor when it comes to someone betraying my country, no "whistle blower," he.)and also fine with agreeing with your fiscal considerations.

My guess is that his misguided supporters would never ever contribute a penny to "help" Manning. They are the type that always expects somebody else to pay for what they want.

His legal team reported that he was gay before copping to the gender dysphoria thing. I'll concede that I didn't, and still don't, care about his gender issues.

My guess is that the anti gay-in-the-military morons will glom onto this as a "See, I told you gays are bad for the military!" thing.

I haven't followed this case at all, so I don't know the details of what Manning did and whether she should be viewed as a hero or a villain, or some shade in between (more likely).

Here's an article that make a case for the hero side, but it also highlights another angle that needs to be explored.

I disagree. It fails to make any case. First paragraph the writer calls Mr. Manning, Chelsea. From the get go, the bias is clear. Reading on, the bullsh!t got deeper and deeper and just descended into an anti-American rant. So I stopped reading.

To assist, I'll make it easy for you. The convicted felon is in no way any kind of hero or whistle blower. The convicted felon willfully and with immaturity and stupidity aforethought compromised the security of the United States and so apologized for that breach of trust. Why would a hero apologize for what he did?

The good news is that Mr. Bradley Manning will go away for many years and properly be forgotten.

The author's bio starts off with, "Drew Cordes is a transgenderqueer...." In fairness, I read the entire article where the author declares, " Fight Against, Not With, the Government" and further declares that "The government is not our friend." Yet this contemptible moron then demands "acceptance." One can only wonder why this nut job, who has declared contempt for this country stays in this country. Surely Canada is better, or any number of other countries other than the USA, but then the anti-American rants would not have the desired effect. It seems clear that this writer is in it for the attention and to vent her garbage for all to read.

Well, I read the garbage and dumped it. It's what I do with garbage.

Manning is one mixed up creature. I think that he hates himself because he is an homosexual and thinks that by becoming a 'woman' that he can run from his perverted pass. He needs a lot of psychiatric care in prison regarding his love for the same sex and wanting to change something as fundamental as his gender.

You are operating on the false notion that psychiatry can "cure" sexual orientation. It can't.
