Stop $939 MILLION foreign aid = stop Uganda
.
We need to keep our $939 MILLION tax money right here at home to feed the hungry and unemployed on American soil
.
Gambia; same thing
.
Stop $300 MILLION foreign aid = stop Gambia
.
Total cost of foreign aid handouts to dirt-clod eating third-world vine swinging cave man countries =$49.6 BILLION American Taxpayer Dollars each year
.
And the arrogant recipients don't even say 'thanks; sucker"
.
Instead; they plot to kill some of the very people who forked over all that American tax money

I'm glad to see money going to help these African nations fight against the disease of homosexuality!

Keep the money flowing to Africa!

Great Britain stopped their aid to Uganda once. I don't know if they started up again. They stopped it because the men in power in Uganda were stealing it. Sometimes I believe, no matter how well-intentioned foreign aid may be, we should just stop it completely. We would save, literally, billions that could be used here. We could always go back to giving it, but with a little more thought and direction. I'm getting just a little tired of tax dollars being spent willy-nilly with no positive results.

The downside is that they will just become Chinese and Russian client states.

If you paid federal income taxes you would be singing a different song
.
Here America sits running 17 TRILLION dollars short on our federal budget
.
And out goes 49.6 BILLION loaded on the money boats headed for the jungles of Africa to keep homophobes like Museveni and Gambia's Jammeh's snowy white polyester pantsuits clean while their poverty-stricken nations destroy everything in sight and then starve to death
.
America can't afford them anymore

Handing off our toxic foreign aid moochers to China and Russia would be sweet revenge

But

Possibly. Another down side has to do with natural resources. I guess I was just letting off a little steam. I know there are arguments for and against foreign aid. But surely, Uganda?

That first "But" was a typo. Shouldn't be there.

That's all your savior Obama's doing.

If the money we send to the African nations helps them preserve their morality and decency by fighting against homosexuality then I say great! Send more!

Frankly, these countries, with a couple of exceptions, don't make much progress in other areas either. Maybe "tough love" should be the solution and all foreign aid from western countries should be stopped

I would not be so sure about Russia, they are having a lot of their own problems lately.

What natural resources come from these places? I usually associate minerals with the southern part of Africa.

That's a hard question to give a short answer. Different minerals from different countries.

A big one is ColTan. Rare Earth Elements and various crystals. Lots of the trans-metals, too.

The American fundies have pushed their homophobia in Africa, but the positive, flip side is that they did that after largely themselves being pushed out of Western countries.

Taking the long view, that's very bad.

Lots of semi-literate, easily manipulable, passion-driven, shocktroops with a recent history of extreme and mindless violence and brutality. Many started as drugged children in genocidal tribal wars.

VERY not good.

Actually, I was speaking in general terms, and not about any specific nation.
