You know that didn't make sense, right?
I got it, but the wording was tortured.

<quoted text>Really? So there is only one situation that defines "similarly situated?" Where is that in the legal code again?
some similarities is not "similarly situated"....

so again you are just being dumb...

Exemptions DO negate rules. It's pretty much the definition of exempt.
first, learn the difference between "exception" and exemption...

second, its still silly logic...

so since murder in self defense is not murder, all killing must not be, right?

So since some dropouts made BILLIONS in computers, all dropouts must become billionaires, right?
or are they EXCEPTIONS to the general rule?
exceptions mean by definition that there is a general rule...

in short, your logic is faulty at its core...

Your argument fails yet again.
If the point of legal marriage is to help couples who are raising kids, then why are same-sex couples who are raising kids (like my spouse and me) excluded?
And as has been pointed out repeatedly, legal marriage is permitted for lots of heterosexual couples who are raising kids where the children are not genetically related to one or both of the parents who are raising them -- so clearly legal marriage doesn't require the children to be genetically related to one or both parents.
If you want to insist that legal marriage should only be allowed for specific reasons those reasons must be applied consistently with heterosexuals as well. All else is bigotry.
still trying to polish that turd huh?

good luck...

Ok. Ill accept your argument for arguments sake. Why grant exceptions to straight couples but not gay couples? Still seems discriminatory. Really, were 5-10% if the population. Or pick whatever number you like; it's small. Sounds like a small enough number to make an exception.

Marriage, the basic family unit, generally for fertile couples but we make exceptions for infertile, elderly, those not wanting biological children, gays and lesbians with or without children.

We make these exceptions for the obvious reason that marriage serves MANY purposes outside child rearing. Many. And also because biological children aren't the only children that need raising. People adopt. People surrogate. People divorce and remarry. People use artificial fertilization methods.

All these families and kids would benefit from having married participants. So would the children raised by and born to these families.

I've figured it out! "straightshooter" is binary, and constructs his options, rather than recognizing the options which are extant.

Binaryism is for computers and insects.

Out of the plenum of options, you tend to select specific options which by their juxtaposition result in the answer you want, rather than that which results from consideration of the plenum.

You cherrypick and stack the deck; i.e. you cheat.

Again, I have never made that assertion, and cannot speak to it.

Remember, Freedom is innate and intrinsic to existence. Rights are Freedom guaranteed by Government.

Consult, before you continue, Amendment. IX. of the U.S. Constitution.

Again, this seems to be off-topic.

A forum thread on this topic might be well attended.

you are free to act as you like, freedom does not apply to the recognition of others...

your right to be free is the same as others' right to be free from you...

nothing in the 9th changes that, in fact, I think it tends to support that marriage is not such a right...which I gather you agree it is not, but will not say specifically...

Our Nation is PREDICATED upon the assertion that Freedom is innate and intrinsic.

Each individual must use that as their benchmark for our Nation to survive and reach it's potential.

Snark is not an argument. Having same sex parents is not analogous to being born with a handicap.

Considering most of the fathers (they're not "dads") of most of the kids waiting in adoption queues, DEFINITELY!

You don't have a grasp of the realities.
