So you would have no problem with your employer firing (or refusing to hire) you simply because of your sexual orientation or race or gender or ethnicity or religion?

The poster is clearly using the term "preferences," as though making your sexual orientation plain - the way heterosexuals do at work and in public all the time - is discussing sexual practices.
That ignorant post was clearly part of the new, right wing talking point that lgbt people should never "make a big deal out of it," i.e., the fact that right wingers wish to confine them to the closet and to discriminate against them.
I understand your point, but I think there has been some confusion in the exchanges between you and kuda. Having seen many of kuda's posts, I think you are both on the same side.

I really don't mind breaking this to you, but the federal government is going to recognize your rights based on your race or combination thereof, national origin, religious preference or lack thereof, gender and disability or lack thereof, whether you want them to or not. We really shouldn't have to spell out that all Americans share the right to be treated as equals, but some folk refuse to get it. The law provides no special protections for anyone of any of the four possible sexual orientations, it just says that their orientation can't be used against them in the public square.

Oh, you're so very noble and progressive.
ENDA, the law, is aimed at homophobic bigot employers who aren't so very noble and progressive as you like to pretend you are.
This is basic. An inability to understand the point marks the disingenuousness of a homophobic bigot trying to appear "reasonable."
judgemental twit??? I have a couple of black friends also.
For what it is worth, laws will never change the hearts and minds of those that are not "reasonable".
And yes I worked with some Big Its also.
Progressive? No. My life style is simple, and I took people at face value as human beings, not sexual orientation as you imply.
That being said, my opinion is (of you, I would hope not) that a fecal release oriface, is a fecal release oriface.

Hey stupid filth, I never said heterosexuals should be barred from marriage or adoption or military service. Nor do I beat heterosexuals up on the street.

We know who the bigoted phobes are.

Although barring marriage, adoption and military service for fundies is probably something we should consider.

I was being sarcastic in that earlier post, you cretin. No one thinks you're noble or progressive.

Your sexual obsessions and sickness are on display again. Go rail against and take rights away from heterosexuals who engage in an al sex if you're so upset by it.(You aren't obsessed with an al sex. You're obsessed with men having sex together.)

We don't care if you hilariously, unbelievably say you have a couple of black friends, or if you say you don't judge on the basis of sexual orientation (you clearly do,) we care about equal rights for the ones who don't bother to dissemble as you do about their bigotry and desire to discriminate.

Gays are usually very perverse and suffer from megalomania. This results in control issues, where they use their deviant identities to lord over others. Thus, firing them has nothing to do with their sexual identity, but has to do with their psychological issues affecting the workplace.

Put them in mental hospitals and prisons and you won't have these problems.

Biden strikes me as someone carefully concerned about his physical health. Good advice to the VP would be to keep homosexuals well away from his staff and self. Doing so will see a remarkable decrease in various communicable diseases and viruses. Oh, and have a portable toilet everywhere you go, where you can wash your hands after touching one.

Just because I may have grown up castrating hogs on an Iowa farm — just like porker Joni Ernst, Iowa Republican Senate candidate who proudly invokes this warm memory as her defining qualification for candidacy that endears her to tea partier supporters like Sarah Palin —don't assume that I'm not really a beautiful person. Sure, like Joni and Sarah, I may have been around the block a few times, but no worse for the wear.

Then again, there are some groups that are just starting to promote the idea pedophilia is just another behavior.
Society can condone or censure a behavior, but as long as it is legal and harms no one, society cannot change the behavior of others. IOW, like it or lump it, your approval is not required. BTW, the majority of people in this country approve SSM; and "homosexual behavior" IS legal and SSM is becoming legal in more states each and every day, chuckles.

There are some groups that say the earth is flat, that is not germane to the discussion here.

I explained your bigoted assumptions and language clearly enough and to no effect.
Most persons' sexual orientation is amply clear in the workplace, unless it's some backwards buybull region where lgbt people are expected to keep things secret that no heterosexual would have to.
We're discussing protections from bigots who will fire employees on so much as a suspicion that the employees might be gay.
Living in the buckle of the bible belt, that is very much a concern with some. Many employers would rather NOT know, and many employees oblige them for the sake of their salaries.

There are some pockets of enlightenment, tolerance and understanding. Sadly, it is not the norm....we're working on that;0)

Not exactly. This proposed legislation defines yet another "protected class."
Further, while I agree with the theory that the same rights will be afforded to heterosexuals, I do not believe it can be implemented to realize the goal of equal protection from discrimination. Instead, what I foresee is lawyers clogging the courts with suits alleging thought-crime.
Always the slippery slope.

Thought crime? LOL!

You already have protection, as do I. Now gays, ethnic and/or religious minorities are assured of "equal" protection, not special.
