Mormon Church Whines: "Prop 8 Backlash Is 'An Outrage That Must Stop'" - but if the shoe fits ....

There are 1019 comments on the gay_blog.blogspot.com story from Dec 6, 2008, titled Mormon Church Whines: "Prop 8 Backlash Is 'An Outrage That Must Stop'" - but if the shoe fits ..... In it, gay_blog.blogspot.com reports that:

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is claiming "violence and intimidation" have been toward the Church because of its support of Proposition 8. Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles claimed "the right of free expression of people of faith has come under attack."

It seems some Mormons think they should be exempt from criticism if they claim their acts are based on religion.

That would be fair if the Mormon Church focused on telling its members how to act.

When a church tries to legislative its religious views and turn them into laws that force others to abide by Mormon beliefs, then they loose the ability to claim their "right of free expression of people of faith has come under attack" when people object to their strong arm methods.

I wrote a rather vicious reply to this, but will say instead: I immediately saw this question as deliberate baiting on your part.

Not really.
Gen 19:5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.
Yes, that's the novice interpretation.

So, you're telling me every man in that town was gay? Even though they had wives and children?

Idiot.

What is, is. Obviously if a book is in error , it is in error.If we are following a road map and it shows us a bridge where there is none , do we respect the road map and drive into the river? Of course not!We discard the map. Why then do people cling to a book that has been proven wrong again and again? Perhaps because a lot of people are afraid if they discard what they thought was the only word of God that they will be forced to live in a Godless world! Well, the good news is that Jesus was right! Love is the answer! You do not have to reject true science to embrace Love !
God is real and so is science. Truth will never diminish God. What is happening today is troublesome for a lot of people, but like Jesus said , "seek and ye shall find" The truth doesn't need antiquated books to support it.
Truth stands on it's own! When Gallileo recanted the truth about the universe to keep from being burned alive by the
church, the earth continued to orbit the sun like it always has. Truth, Love, all of the things that Jesus actually said are true and do not contradict the findings of science!
Basically , the mormons are frightened. This is why they have spent so much money attacking woman's rights, gay rights, and any scientific discovery that sheds light on the error of their teachings.

Just say no to theodemcracy (demon theocracy)!

For those of you who said I am not Black!
If being Black means that I have to support causes and people that are wrong as two left shoes, which are morally corrupt then I am not Black;
If being Black means that I don’t have to accept responsibility for my own actions then I am not Black;
If being Black means I do not support my wife, children or family then I am not Black;
If being Black means supporting the THUG and criminal lifestyle then I am not Black;
If being Black means using race as an excuse for my failures and shortcomings in life then I am not Black;
If being Black means calling Black women out of their names and showing them no respect, then I am not Black;
If being Black means accepting and doing nothing about the high number of young Black males in jail, prison or being killed on the streets, then I am not Black;
If being Black means placing sports, entertainment and famous Black people above the law, then I am not Black;
If being Black means not finishing High School or obtaining a GED or going to college/technical school to obtain a marketable and employable skill then I am not Black;
If being Black means blaming the white man and the government for my and others failure in life, then I am not Black;
If being Black means forgetting those who died in the struggle (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Malcolm X, Frederick Douglass, Andrew Young,) for not only our freedom but for our right to vote and become part of American society, then I am not Black;
If being Black means not honoring those men in the Union Army who died while defeating the Confederacy and after the Civil War asked for no reparations because they were only doing their duty, then I am not Black.
My Father taught me to never let the color of my skin be used as a excuse for failure or for not achieving my goals.
If people did not accept me for whom and what I am then they must move on. Adversity builds character and is part of life. One must remember that if you do not prepare for life’s struggles then the struggle will overwhelm you!
I am a proud Black man, and the only way for us to succeed is Education, Education, and then some more Education to lift up our people.

Get over yourself. Nobody cares. But yes, you do need education, education, and then some more education - because you're completely ignorant when it comes to gay rights.

Yep, he was dragged out of a jail cell and hung. About the same time Missouri passed a law stating that any Mormon found alive in Missouri after the effective date will be shot to death or hung. The law wasn't repealed until the late 1980s or 90s
But Matt will tell you that the law's the law. LOL.

Good thing they had "activist judges" to correc the evil people.

Mormons are NUTS wrote:
<quoted text>
I'd try to answer your question, but it would take volumes. I've dealt with Mormons for 45 years, knocking on my door every week, you name it. I've seen it all. One pair of Mormon missionaries came to my door, 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning, and I offered them a drink of water or anything they might need. When they realized that I wasn't interested in Mormonism, one of them began wiping his feet on my doormat. I asked him what he was doing, and he said, "Christ said to wipe the feet of your dust from a door if a person doesn't believe in Joseph Smith. The last person I did this to ended up having his family destroyed by a tornado in Oklahoma a week later."
Oh, that's one of many. Another once came to my door and tried to convert me, so I debated with him awhile. When it came down to brass tacks and we realized we should probably just agree to disagree, he looked me straight in the eye and said, "You are an idiot. You have no understanding. I know more than you do." And walked away.
Still more. Once I was working on my motorcycle and two missionaries came up and asked if I needed help. I said "Sure, will you hold this back rail up while I fix the problem?" They said "You bet." They preached to me for three or four minutes, and when I said I didn't believe in the Book of Mormon but only Christ and the Bible, the missionary DROPPED the rail and they both walked away.
THis happens all the time. Forget what you see on TV. This is Utah, the heart of Mormondom. If you don't accept them and you don't adopt their ideology, you are anathema - PERIOD.
Well, my grandma, after she disassociated herself with the mormon church, would always make sure she had a beer in the fridge for whenever the mormons came to her door. Then, whenever they would come she would light up a cigarette and crack open that beer before she answered the door. They'd usually just turn around and leave right off the bat; however, they must be more persistent in Utah!
Try the beer thing; maybe it will work!

Here in NYC, I just put a sign on my door saying "No solicitors, menus, or witnesses of faith, please."

I still get menus, but the others leave me alone.

No. He's actually a very good cat. He's curled up on me right now as I type this. I won't let him outside because he only has 3 legs (I had the remainder of his left hind leg amputated about 7 months ago.) He likes to sit at the windows and watch the bird and squirrels and other things outside. He has Samantha to keep him company too. (Although their personalities are the exact opposite in many respects).

Okay, I have no idea where to find it, but my parents had this thing a few years ago... It's an acrylic box with an open top that attaches to the outside of the window with suction cups. It's strong enough to hold squirrel food and a squirrel or two.

The squirrels quickly learn that the cat on the other side of the glass can't get 'em, and so they sit in the little box, stuff themselves, and tease the cats.

If you can find one, I'll bet he'd be entertained for years!

Yes, that's his gif in my avatar. If you look to the lower right of the gif, you will see he is missing the lower half of his leg. I had the remainder amputated about 7 months ago, and he is doing fine.

All the money the Mormons spent on Prop. 8. All the bad publicity they garnered. All the ill will they created for themselves around the world has now been for naught.....

Prop. 8 is now officially dead without appeal....

Welcome California as the 13 state to legalize gay marriage.

I suggest to the Mormon church that they stay out of the lives of non-members. We will fight back and WIN!!!!
