So the state that spent millions on Prop H8 now has marriage equality. What delicious irony.

Wow.

I'm still digesting this.

Of course the state will appeal to the 10th circuit which is evenly split 5-5 between Dem & GOP appointed judges.

Of note, this is one of the appeals courts with 2 vacancies the GOPasars have been holding up. Now we know why!

While there won't be any wedding bells in Utah in the immediate future, at least the ball is rolling.

And I immediately eat my own words as I read Salt Lake City started issuing marriage licenses immediately after he ruling came down.

I guess they're not waiting for any stay to take effect.

I'm stunned. I didn't expect this domino to fall until near the very end. State number 18.

I'm not sure, Sheep. We're still waiting to hear from the Attorney General, but I have a suspicion that they may decide to stop throwing bad money after bad and just accept that the world has changed. There's really nothing in the ruling that can be challenged. And the fact that the language matches that of every other pro-gay marriage ruling to date suggests that it is now fairly de rigeur.

What a delight this is. Boy, once these dominoes begin to fall, they fall fast. I wonder if there will be any more before the end of the year.

I'm sure the AG is busy drafting a request for an emergency stay from the 10th circuit.
