Take GOD's word for it:

Romans 1:26-27: Because of this [worshipping things instead of God], God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

So, basically, God made the straight folk do the gay sex thing in a snit? This is a condemnation of anything other than idolatry how?

But it clearly wasn't their lust until God gave them over unto it. God made the straight folk do things that just freaked poor old Paul all out as pay back for their idolatry. Nothing more, nothing less. There is no punishment from God handed down for this behavior and Paul doesn't even suggest one, he just launches into his not so subtle rebuke of EVERYTHING he, and of course God, thought was wrong with the Christians of Rome. There is no mention of either divine or man made punishment for this sexual behavior, because the sexual behavior was God's punishment for their idolatry. Paul was merely adding color commentary as to his being weirded out by it all.

Having a problem with King's English, Rick?

God gave them over, i.e., abandoned them (Amplified Bible) to their vile affections because of their idolatry.

God doesn't "make" anyone do anything: He simply gets out of the way.

But if not for God's action of abandoning them, these people would never have committed such acts. According to Paul, God's punishment for their idolatry was to be left to be queer as folk in a bit of an odd snit. Paul's opinion of the nature of said acts, coming from a man who really did think that the Christian's highest calling was to keep their legs crossed in the name of Jesus, anything else was strictly a fall back rationalization for those whose faith wasn't as strong as his or/and realized what a silly idea that really was, is nothing more than his color commentary on what he clearly says that God did to them, for their breaking their covenant with Him by violating the commandment to worship no other Gods.

You're almost there and for you, that's pretty good. Keep trying, you'll get it. God made these folk go gay, it IS in the Bible, read it for yourself, it is right there in those verses you are trying to make mean something they don't.

Get the Syrian Bible and find the word homosexual, I dare you.

Get ANY Bible before 1940 and find it.

No, they had first decided to live without recognizing the true God, so He accomodated them and left them to their own Narcissistic devices, i.e., the worship of self.

I find it interesting that both gays and muslims possess an external locus of control by which they both attribute their behavior to external circumstances without taking any responsibility for their respective actions, no matter how vile those actions are.

In other words, God sent them for a walk on the wild side because He was pissed.

Thus spaketh the gentleman who consistently blames God for his free will choice of personal bigotries and who attempted to deny that Christians commit violence in the name of God because there's no new testament verses which support it.

The verse clearly says that their behavior was their recompense for their sin, it was God's payback, there was no choice.

EVERY time you use your religious beliefs as a rationalization for your bigotry, you are blaming God for your choices. It really is that simple.

The choice was always yours, so how can you blame God for it?

What you call "payback" is simply the consequences of your own choices.

Sweetie, the same sex sex was the consequence of their choice to be idolaters, there were no consequence meted out by either God nor Paul over the choice to engage in such sex, because as Paul clearly says, God made them do it.

If the Christians of Rome had been left hanging with the cults that encouraged hard work, home and family, there would have been no apparent consequence to God leaving them. If He had left them to the fun ones that only had opposite sex sex on the ritualistic menu, not even Paul could have sold that as a consequence of their choices. No, Paul says, God dumped them on the doorstep of the really fun cults with the full range of sexual possibilities on the ritualistic menu, gave them a push through the doors, then walked away. Paul, of course, describes what happened next in the most unflattering of terms, but that's it, because what happened next was God's message, he made it happen as the consequence of their idolatry.

For those of us for whom being homosexual is our nature, dropping us off at the ostium to a party like that would have been a bad thing how? Sure, he's not coming in with us, but hey, his loss. But for those of y'all who aren't the least bit bisexual, Paul's telling you that this is the kind of b*tch God can be sometimes. He's dumped you at a worship service for some other God, where you are going to do a whole lot of things you might regret after the fact, it's going to be hideous, horrible and unnatural for you, but it's what you get for flirting with other Gods. It's actually only the FIRST thing that God is going to do to you for this.

Taken in context with the remainder of the chapter:

"28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality,[c] wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving,[d] unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them."

It wasn't the last b*tch slap God was intending to deliver.

"2 Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things."

The amplified 'bible' was not written by a king
.
It was written by an employee of a California citrus farmer
