Good for her! She's sick of being "sirred" and is doing something about it. Even though the slight was unintentional. Too bad we can't do that over here. I could rake in a tidy little sum from time to time. I wish I had a dollar for the number of times when I'm clearly presenting as a woman and get "sirred" by some wiseguy. Many big companies are not tolerating it from their employees any longer. Good for her!

Some sickness straight from the article...

A TRANSSEXUAL has accused a council of sexual discrimination after a worker refused to believe she was a woman.

Katrina Harte, 50, spent more than four decades trapped in a man’s body before the NHS paid for a sex-swap op and she put herself £4,000 in debt to pay for a boob job.

She still needs to have her Adam’s apple removed – a tracheal shave – but she finally feels she is on her way to becoming the person she was born to be.

Katrina, who has three children from her previous life as a man.

IS THIS SICK OR WHAT!

OMFG!
If idiots like you would stop hating them, and bullying them, and attacking them ... maybe they'd come out a lot sooner. You have only your own hatred to blame, not her.

Yes! If it weren't for idiots like this, I could have transitioned in my twenties and saved a lot of emotional distress for myself.

You should have transitioned in your twenties. People waste way too much time worrying about what other people think. I'm gay and have been flaunting it for ages.

Congradulations! I envy you! Unfortunately transexualism was regarded by most mainstream psychrinks as psychosis or Schizophrenia and with the mental "warehouses" in full operation, one had to be very careful about what you said and who one said it to. More than one girl wound up with a one way ticket to the nuthouse. Thank God that's all gone now. And there was the stigma attached to being a male non-male. Read Lynn Conway's story and you'll see what I mean.( Lynnconway.com ) There was probably not 40 miles between us (NJ, NY area) and she is only a few years older. We listened to the same radio station. I admire her courage for the times. God! If only I could get that time back!

Being gay or transgendered isn't easy in this bigoted society. You don't chose to be gay or a transsexual....it's like the color of your eyes, it's a natural part of who you are. I read in a book that as far back as the 1930's, in France, a person had a male to female sex change. Renee Richards has had a very interesting life....I remember in the 80's seeing the TV movie about her.

Well, That's the problem with you queers, you feel the need to get out and flaunt your Queerness. Why can't you, at least try, to appear and live like a normal person, without strutting around like a peaco:ck?
I'm gay and I like it that way. Your hate and ignorance is YOUR problem, not mine....I'll live my life exactly the way I want to. Your seal of approval is neither desired nor required.

Lynn Conway ( Lynnconway.com ) touches on this. People have been surgically altering their sex for thousands of years.(Google Hijra)Jesus mentions them in Matthew 19:12. However this was simple castration. Removal of the gonads results in feminization. In 1931, the first actual change of gender was performed in Germany to a Danish artist Einmar Wegener and she became Lili Elbe.
After the war, a Dr Hamburger in Denmark continued the work at the "Sang Station". This is where Christine Jorgenson was treated. Renee Richards had her operation in 1975. This was early, but much later than Christine Jorgenson, Pat Morgan, April Ashley, even Lynn Conway and many others.
