I suspect their genius plan it to continue to refuse to allow gay couples to get married in their hate-based, anti-gay churches.

Because, of course, there will be thousands of same-sex couples lining up and wanting to be married in hateful, anti-gay, "you're going to burn in hell" churches, right??

Because, of course, gay couples for whom marrying in a church is important can't possibly already be members of loving, accepting, Christ-based churches that would happily welcome and rejoice right along with a loving couple wishing to marry in their midst.

No. Those gay couples, for sure, will want to be married in a hateful, anti-gay, fundamentalist church that hates gay people. And when they apply, boy will those fundies show them!!! They will!!!

No. Didn't you know that, to the fundies, religious discrimination only happens to THEM, not to anyone else.

When the fundies discriminate, it's okay because it's what God almighty has told them to do. So it's okay. Not discrimination at all.

To keep it simple, THEY can discriminate. YOU cannot. Make sense?

From the article:
Marriage is ontologically between one man and one woman, ordered toward the union of the spouses, open to children and formative of family. Family is the first vital cell of society; the first church, first school, first hospital, first economy, first government and first mediating institution of our social order. The future of a free and healthy society passes through marriage and the family.

How does allowing Gay and Lesbian couples the right to marry negate anything that is quote above? One is NOT eliminating the other, both are co-existing as we speak!!!

These folks are loonier than Bugs Bunny and the entire looney tune gang!!!

Since no church can be forced to marry nobody, exactly how are they going to "Defy [the] Supreme Court Marriage Ruling" ? By not marrying a couple whom they would not have married beforehand ?

The statement is kind of nonsensical.

And despite all their insistence in the rightness of their cause, are the actually CONCEDING that they have lost, even though the SCOTUS decision has not yet been released ?

They don't sound very certain of their supposed convictions.

Following that ill-advised rule, we would not have had the American Revolutionary War, nor The Autumn Of Nations.

That was my point. These folks who claim "MY CHURCH FOLLOWS THE BIBLE" don't seem to know very much of what is IN the Bible.

If we followed everything in the Bible we'd be stoning children to death in the public square and selling daughters into slavery.

Oh wait, Christian Conservatives still basically do that last one.

If we followed all of "God's Word", Rapists would be forced to marry their victims! And employers would have to pay wages everyday rather than withhold them a week or two or even a month.

NOBODY follows all the biblical commands literally as they were written in a particular time for the prevailing social situations. Not even the MOST "conservative" Christians claim to follow all the biblical commands literally.

And years ago, my church decided the best way to avoid all these kinds of arguments at my church,(St. Martin's Second Reformed Lutheran Church and Microbrewery of Tobyhanna), was to throw out all our old bibles and instead we now use "Pastor Bob's Poetry & Home Beermaking Guide" instead. Result: No more arguments about what the bible says and doesn't say.:)

The person who said this for the article has it COMPLETELY wrong! The Supreme Court has NEVER assumed the role of a MORAL authority! They have assumed the role of a LEGAL authority! They only decide what is LEGAL in this country - they have NEVER decided morality.

Someone needs to learn how their government REALLY works!

What you say is UNTRUE. When SCOTUS upheld sodomy laws in the Bowers v. Hardwicke decision (to give but one example), the justices voting to uphold the sodomy statues SPECIFICALLY CITED long-standing moral disapproval of gay sex.

That's the main problem -- people who don't understand the difference between church and state, and who fail to grasp the concept of religious freedom.

"In fact, it appears that the idea of the sacredness of marriage only came about some seven or eight hundred years ago." What a blatant falsehood. Gays are now going well beyond twisting the Bible to actually lying about it. Jesus lived 2,000 years ago, and he reiterated what had already been established about marriage being the union of a man and a woman since creation. Read The Bible, specifically Matthew 19.

Of course, they will because that would be the best way for gays to cause trouble for churches. That is what it is all about anyway - cause as much trouble for churches and Christians as possible.

Actually marriage didn't really exist back in the days of Jesus like it does today......in fact our marriage rituals and laws have only been around roughly the last 500 years.......before that, a woman was not allowed to marry for love, usually she was under the age of 16 and it was a business arrangement between the men of the two families......read this:
When we look at the marriage customs of our ancestors, we discover several striking facts. For example, for the most of Western history, marriage was not a mere personal matter concerning only husband and wife, but rather the business of their two families which brought them together. Most marriages, therefore, were arranged. Moreover, the wife usually had much fewer rights than her husband and was expected to be subservient to him. To a considerable extent, marriage was also an economic arrangement. There was little room for romantic love, and even simple affection was not considered essential. Procreation and cooperation were the main marital duties.
