I think one of the most underrated authors in American literature was Paul Lawrence Dunbar. In on of his books, "The Uncalled" (1898), he has his protagonist make this excellent statement, which strikes me as so pertinent to the present discussion:

“It’s funny to me, Miss Hester, how it is that Christians know so much more about the devil’s ways than they do about the Lord’s. They’re allus a-sayin’,‘the Lord moves in a mysterious way,’ but they kin allus put their finger on the devil.”
“‘Liphalet Hodges, that’s a slur!”
“I ain’t a-meanin’ it as no slur, Miss Hester; but most Christians do seem to have a powerful fondness for the devil. I notice that they’re allus admirin’ his work an’ praisin’ up his sharpness, an’ they ‘d be monstrous disappointed ef he did n’t git as many souls as they expect.”

Condoms prevent disease and the need for abortion. The RCC's stance on condoms has been singularly responsible for the spread of HIV wherever their voice has been listened to.

According to Canon Law, Civil Marriage has no legal existence and is unrecognized by the RCC.

The man viewpoint is ridiculous.

I blame Satan for the existence of the Catholic Church.

And given the church's propensity to cover up it's own failings perhaps Mr. Neinstedt should remember the old adage "People who live in glass churches shouldn't throw stones."

Satan - another one of those invisible guys, seen just as frequently as jesus.

Tell me, Cardinal, does the practice of drinking blood and eating human flesh help protect against one, or both, of these invisible beings?

You are far closer to the truth than you perhaps realize.

Neurotic enough for Sigmund's couch, that's for certain, but correct about RCC corruption. The rest was just a reaction formation to the national Germanic inferiority complex and paranoia.
