And we are tired of you using your Bible bigotry to take a crap on other people. You would like to believe that you're spreading God's word but you're simply using your religion to denigrate others. If you're so tired, just go away. We'll promise to miss you horribly.
FYI, I'm not a God hater; I'm a retired church employee.
There you go--exactly what I was talking about.

You jump on people for a cuss word.

But you consistently put down, denigrate and belittle people who haven't done anybody any harm.

You aren't even able to comprehend the reality you preach.

You claim there's something so enticing to you about being gay or lesbian that you know that if any little children hear about this magic secret of yours they'll want to be just like gay and lesbian people.

Just saved you years of therapy honey.

The Apocrypha were additional texts beyond those recognized by Jews as the Tanakh which were included in the Greek translation of the Hebrew bible known as the Septuagint that was begun in the third century BCE. The Septuagint was the de facto translation of the Hebrew bible which Christians incorporated into their bible as the old testament. It was not generally the subject of controversy as to biblical canon until the Protestant Reformation. However, like virtually all topics related to Christian doctrine and canon, there are numerous nuances and exceptions related to various subgroups of Christians through the years.
<quoted text>
Technically that is true. Prior to the East-West Schism, the proper term would be "Chalcedonian Christians". But that's not a term commonly used today and most people understand the terms Catholic/Orthodox/Protestant better.
<quoted text>
Actually, the Great Schism of 1378-1415 refers to the period when there were competing Italian and French popes within the Roman Catholic Church. The break between Rome and Constantinople known as the East-West Schism (and sometimes the Great Schism) began in 1054.

Since a lot of this seems to have gotten around to religion ..... a Westboro Church member is right now running for a state office in Kansas. His stand is the usual Westboro bull. What ticket is he running under?

Republican.

Wow ..... doesn't these things below sound a lot alike?

"Topeka is evil. Harry Potter promotes witchcraft. Christmas trees are pagan idols. Cancer is a judgment from God. And the teaching of evolution should be rooted out of Kansas schools because it’s a satanic lie."
-- Jack Wu, Westboro Church member running for state office in Kansas under the Republican ticket (October 2012)

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."
-- Pat Robertson, who campaigned with Mitt Romney last month.

"I think it's harmful to women. I think it's harmful to our society to have a society that says that sex outside of marriage is something that should be encouraged or tolerated, particularly among the young. And I think we've very, very harmful long-term consequences to our society. Birth control to me enables that, and I don't think it's a healthy thing for our country."
-- Republican Rick Santorum, on why he wants states to have the power to ban birth control pills.

“(People) who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it.”
-- Mitt Romney (May 2012)

thats what the bible says.
The book of Ezekiel 18:4 says that the soul that is sinning will die. The book of Ecclesiastes 9:5 says the dead are conscience of nothing at all. So tell me, are you a sinner? If yes, your soul will die. When your soul dies, according to the bible you will be conscience of nothing at all. So where are you going to exist?

I saw that posted a few times, I don't quite get it. What happens on the 15th?

I'm not really interested in finding ways to antagonize people. If they seem uncommunicative and combative, then I'd prefer to find a way to calm them down, and look for the path that WILL result in a productive discussion. Most people will eventually respond to that in some way (provided they don't live in the Pekin, IL area).

If you're in a flame war with someone who seems unreasonable, and the insults are flying, maybe it's time to take a minute and try a different approach. But, that all depends on what you hope to get out of your conversation.

Funny thing is ask any 100 Christian a question about the Bible and you'll get 100 different answers. Same with nearly any other Faith.
Very true, which amuses me when someone like Patticake58 says that there AREN'T multiple versions of the Bible. Besides the fact that there ARE, just in print alone, it seems fair to say that EVERY single Christian's personal interpretation of the Bible constitutes a "version" that is different from their neighbor's.

One of the things I've been trying to understand from her is how to choose one religion over all the others. But even if she can offer some standards for making that choice which would lead me to Christianity, I would still be stuck wondering WHICH interpretation of Christianity to choose. She is obviously going to disagree, maybe vehemently, with other Christians on many points of doctrine. How would someone figure out WHICH interpretation to adhere to? If Christianity weren't schismed into tens of thousands of discordant denominations, it might all be a lot easier to take seriously. If the Bible really contained absolute, unquestionable TRUTH, then it seems that Christianity should be one harmonious belief system with no internal disagreement whatsoever.

It's not so much about fear as it is about sexual immorality and its taking over of the Christian church.
That would be a fear, dear and a highly irrational one at that.
James Aist wrote:
At the heart of the so-called “Gay Gospel”, or “Gay Theology”, is the claim that the Bible does not condemn homosexual acts that occur within the context of loving, committed, enduring homosexual relationships.
How horrible.
James Aist wrote:
This, despite the fact that the Bible does appear to condemn all homosexual acts and that the Christian church has steadfastly held this position since Jesus Christ established His church almost 2,000 years ago.
And despite being supported by the Bible and being a steadfast position of the "church', any number of supposed "Christian" beliefs are falling or have fallen out if favor. Christianity's position on the slavery, the place and treatment of women, divorce and any number of issues where the Bible is seemingly quite clear on its position, Christianity has taken, is taking, or will be taking a different tact.
James Aist wrote:
In effect, what gay theology is asking, rhetorically, is,“Did God really say that sex within the context of loving, committed, long-term homosexual relationships is wrong?”
You're making up your own rhetorical question for your own purposes. Christians are crafty that way.
James Aist wrote:
If the phrase “Did God really say…” sounds familiar to you, it is probably because that is exactly what Satan said to Eve in the Garden of Eden when he was trying to get her to commit the first sin:“Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman,“Did God really say,‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”(Genesis 3:1).
See what I mean?
James Aist wrote:
And that is exactly what is happening in the Christian church today, in the form of gay theology. Satan is using gay theology to get Christians who are homosexual to continue to practice homosexuality and feel good about it, rather than repent of it.(free advertising deleted)
If that ain't an incredibly paranoid fear, I don't know what you'd call it.

Here's your scriptural lesson for the day: Matthew 7:15-23.

Wise man, your Jesus, he saw the likes of you coming from nearly 2000 years away.
