The thing I didn't like about this story on the tv here, is teh people they interviewed about it were these very gaudy, fat guys in drag.

They could've interviewed some average-looking people, becaue there were plenty of them in the audience at the theatre where the vote was held.

I'm surprised. Phoenix is whackier than Texas. And it's like 90% of the population of Arizona.

Arizona: Home of Jan Brewer, Joe Arpaio, Jeff Flake, John McCain....

Phoenix has a population of 1.44 million, and teh State of Arizona has a population of 6.55 million, so Phoenix has about 22% of teh population. Not anywheres near 90%.

(and no, I've never been to Phoenix nor that far north in Arizona.)

Then I remind you that Arizona was the first State to vote AGAINST a Constitutional ban for SSM. Unfortunately it passed a few years later.

Still, it's good to see Equality progress in Phoenix.

I was referring to the Phoenix metropolitan area, which is basically Maricopa and Pinal Counties. That population was 4.2 million in 2010.

So I will admit I was wrong. Phoenix has just under 2/3 of the population of Arizona, not 90%.

You are further correct to point out that the ordinance affects only the residents of Phoenix, and that is only 1/3 of the metropolitan area.

But I stand by my characterization of those 4.2 million residents. Of course, there are very reasonable residents of Phoenix who, like my sister, are greatly embarrassed by the actions of their city and state. I have heard that Texas also has many reasonable citizens, although all the ones I've met are FORMER residents.
