Even better would be if they stopped BEING anti-gay by opposing marriage for same-sex couples.

I agree.

The Roman Catholic Church is UN-AMERICAN because they do NOT believe in the concept of religious freedom. They just don't.

The funny thing about caricatures is that what they generally do is accentuate characteristics that the subject of the caricatures doesn't necessarily want the public to focus on, or things that have been there all along that the viewer might not have noticed before.

So, actually, the good cardinal is right. The Catholic Church HAS been horribly anti-gay and anti-equality (and, therefore, anti-Christian) and they were hoping that no one would notice. And their caricature, as with all good caricatures, accurately pointed out the truth.

Sucks to be them, I guess. Maybe they should take some lessons from Jesus and love and respect everyone instead persecuting certain groups for financial gain. Now there's an idea!!

Ridiculous.

The church is not "portrayed" as anti-gay, nor is it "caricatured." I'm sick of the RCC acting like they are VICTIMS of unfair treatment.

They are what they are, so they should not PRETEND that they are somehow PRO gay and unfairly portrayed as anti-gay.

That's nonsense. It's an insult to people's intelligence and whatever illusion of integrity they hope to "portray" themselves as having.

I think there are very few people on this earth, including the LGBT population, who do not support a marriage between a man and a woman. That's where all of us come from. So the religionists are not doing anything admirable that the gay community does not also do by supporting 'traditional marriage.'

No, the problem is that most religionists are intolerant of others who do not think EXACTLY as they do, and they practice an EXclusionary lifestyle. If you do not support ONLY 'traditional marriage' to the exclusion any other type of loving relationship, you are evil. Now they are squealing like stuck pigs because Society is starting to see them for the hypocrites that they are!

The simple truth is that Roman Catholic leaders such as Dolan, and his compatriots, do NOT believe in, nor support, the concept of "Freedom Of Religion". And they therefore do not believe in, nor support the First Amendment, the Bill Of Rights, nor the U.S. Constitution.

They are therefore, UN-AMERICAN.

To PROVE my point:

There are certain Protestant denominations, such as ELCA & UCC, and other non-Christian religions, that permit and bless same-gender marriages in their houses of worship. By DEMANDING that the state governments, and federal government, NOT legally recognize those same-gender marriages performed in houses of worship, with the blessings of a particular religion or Christian denomination, while at the same time DEMANDING that said governments legally recognize Roman Catholic marriages, the Roman Catholic Church is amply demonstrating that they simply do NOT believe in the concept of religious freedom. They just don't.

This IS UN-AMERICAN.

And it is their way of getting around the First Amendment and trying to establish their religion as the law of the land. These morons will never give up, I want all religious laws removed from our law books.

Exactly, biblicists have been re-writting history for thousands of years.

Eusebius said that it is lawful to lie and cheat for the cause of Christ: "I have repeated whatever may rebound to the glory, and suppressed all that could tend to the disgrace of our religion" (Chp. 31, Book 12 of Prae Paratio Evangelica). This was said when biblicists were inserting mention of Jesus into history books. Today biblicists claim Jesus was a real historical being and they quote all these fabrications as if it proves their case. All it proves is that biblicists can not be trusted.

When people talk about Abe Lincoln they do not mentioned he slept in the same bed with a man for over 6 years, even writing him love letters.

""Lincoln wrote a poem that described a marriage-like relation between two men, which included the lines:

“For Reuben and Charles have married two girls,
But Billy has married a boy.
The girls he had tried on every side,
But none he could get to agree;
All was in vain, he went home again,
And since that he's married to Natty.”

This poem was included in the first edition of the 1889 biography of Lincoln by his friend and colleague William Herndon.[9] It was expurgated from subsequent editions until 1942, when the editor Paul Angle restored it. This is an example of what Mark Blechner calls "the closeting of history,"[10] in which evidence that suggests a degree of homosexuality or bisexuality in a major historical figure is suppressed or hidden.""

And then we have God's favorite person King David:

2 SAM. 1:26, "David said, "I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women"

Polygamy would give an economic boost to the bus industry
.
A man can stuff up to 40 wives into a greyhound bus to take them shopping at Goodwill (38 wives if the family bus has a built-in potty)

Actually laws against polygamy PREVENT people from exercising their religious freedom.

Wacky religious practices NEED to be restricted, otherwise there is no reason to ban religious based rape & human sacrifice.

The sooner religion is banned the better off the world will be.

There is absolutely zero good which comes from the psychological affliction of religious belief.

It is also very disingenuous to state that the church is portrayed as anti-gay "for supporting traditional marriage between a man and a woman."

Sorry, supporting traditional marriage between a man and a woman does not make anyone anti-gay, and no one has ever claimed so.

Dolan thinks he's clever, but this is truly stupid. He's implying that in order to support same sex marriage, one must be against "traditional marriage" and vice versa.

It's a lie, but what should we expect from the RCC?

The problem, of course, is that people make the assumption that anyone that "supports traditional marriage" is also an anti-gay bigot that is against marriage equality.

While that's mostly true, supporters of marriage equality are almost ALL supportive of "traditional marriage". Why else would we want to be a part of it???

And we certainly would never support shutting out other couples just because we don't like them or we're afraid of them. That's completely nuts.

In The Bible, "traditional marriage" is polygamy.
