I wonder if, should municipalities start requiring IQ's of over 100 for cops, they would become unaffordable. There are certainly a lot of stupid gorillas in police forces both in the US and in Canada.
The local "Free Paper" just had a cover story this week about the bouncers in this area of south Florida (off duty police actually)who have a habit of beating the crap out of what turn out to be innocent bar patrons, and never face any CRIMINAL charges by the police for their assaults.

In my area there is a nice loophole that allows the local police to moonlight and not report how much they make. Most bouncers in the hot spots (keep in mind these are 'off duty' cops) clear $600 -$1000 a week. And most of it goes unreported as taxable income!

Of course this is the State that elected Governor the guy who was the the CEO of the Medical Company convicted of the biggest Medicare Fraud in our Nation's history!

"Richard Lynn "Rick" Scott (born December 1, 1952) is an American politician and businessman who is the 45th and current Governor of Florida. A member of the Republican Party, Scott has served as Governor since 2011.

Born in Bloomington, Illinois, Scott is the graduate of the University of Missouri, Kansas City, later receiving his law degree from Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law. He served in the United States Navy before starting his business career, joining the Dallas firm Johnson & Swanson, where he became partner. In 1987, at age 34, he co-founded Columbia Hospital Corporation with two business partners; this merged with Hospital Corporation of America in 1989 to form Columbia/HCA and eventually became the largest private for-profit health care company in the U.S. He resigned as Chief Executive of Columbia/HCA in 1997 amid a controversy over the company's business and Medicare billing practices; the company ultimately admitted to fourteen felonies and agreed to pay the federal government over $600 million; Scott was not implicated. Scott later became a venture capitalist.

Got a phone with a camera? Take pictures of these moonlighting cops and send an album full to the IRS. Be sure to annotate the photos with date/time and addresses. If you can get at least first names, too ...

One problem. Here in FL people get arrested for taking photos of police.

When they're moonlighting? I think not.

Be surreptitious.

I saw on the news the other week a story of one of these attacks. The police who responded tried to demand that everyone who was photographing this needed to turn over their phones and delete the images!

As we often say on here, "follow the money".
Police in Broward County are basically owned by the bars.

Seems like I need to take you aside and teach you some craft.

Don't wait until there's an incident. Make pilgimage to all the wateringholes that have bouncers. Take a cute lady friend. Snap a picture of her with the suspected moonlighter in the frame. She can even get flirty with him and get at least his first name. Crop and catalog the pix when you get home.

Here's a delicious alternative to the too-obvious phone that I've used on many occasions.

I think you misunderstand. The police and the county have no problem with these cops moonlighting. In fact they don't even have to report that income to anyone! County law says they don't need to report any income from such moonlighting!

It's when the off duty cops who are bouncers start beating people when the on duty cops cops try to make sure the story doesn't get any press is the problem.

It's the "Blue Line". They cover each others backsides in these cases!

That's why you go WAAAAY over their heads to the IRS. They probably don't report the extra income.
