For the 2nd time in as little as a week the Proponents of Prop 8 and now the County Clerk in San Diego have been told that their requests are NOT going to be honored......wonder what they'll try next? Maybe a petition to God!!!

It would be great if that's all the bigots ever did, petitioning an imaginary being is as damaging to everyone else as glaring, and as effective too.

I seriously think that the gross lack of understanding of basic concepts of law that is demonstrated by the arguments put forth in this petition demonstrate all that is needed for this attorney to lose his license to practice law for gross incompetence. He seems to be saying that he thinks that ONLY the Supreme Court can strike down a law, which is patently false. Now the federal court which struck this law down has a "district" (correct word?), and the declaration of this law being unconstitutional is only applicable in this district, but the district includes several states, and all of California.

Since they do not seem to recognize that SCOTUS ruled that they have no standing in the case, I think that the California Supreme Court should issue an order, ORDERING THEM to cease and desist from filing anymore paperwork regarding this case in the California courts, or face contempt charges.

They seem to be zombies.

The same rally cry used to start the civil war, you know, the one where you people didn't want black people to be free.

Poor, poor little Ronald! You just can't stand that pesky old Constitution getting in your way! So sad,to bad,so sorry but it's over and marriage equality is here to stay in California! You don't have to like it but you will have to live with it! Or better yet,how about you move to Africa with the rest of the haters! I'm sure you'd just love it there!

Yawn.

It's over, LITTLE liar, get used to it. Hopefully you don't live in California, so it is of no importance to you, gives you more time to lie and make up new false names, anyway.

We are dear. One state at a time.

Thing is you anti-gays don't seem to want the people to be allowed to vote.

So glad you bring up decency. Jesus talked of that too:

Luke 10:25-37

New International Version (NIV)
The Parable of the Good Samaritan

25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus.“Teacher,” he asked,“what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied.“How do you read it?”

27 He answered,“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’[a]; and,‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b]”

28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied.“Do this and you will live.”

29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus,“And who is my neighbor?”

30 In reply Jesus said:“A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii[c] and gave them to the innkeeper.‘Look after him,’ he said,‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”

37 The expert in the law replied,“The one who had mercy on him.”

Jesus told him,“Go and do likewise.”

I'm still hoping that the CSSC will take full advantage of their free shot at these clowns and give them a beat down that they won't forget. They've set themselves up to have the last word on this, they need to make it hurt. Nothing they rule can be appealed, this could be fun.

I think they need to hold them in contempt of court (which they surely are), and fine them heavily. I don't think anything else that is legal will work.

I'd be happier with them just holding them in complete contempt and layething a righteous judicial smackdown on them. Rule the amendment unconstitutional in no uncertain terms and revisit the idea of giving proposition proponents standing in their defense.

It would be nice if the CSSC did this right this time.......I mean they tossed Prop 22 in 2008 with a very commanding ruling, then when the challenges started over Prop 8, the same CSSC got all wishy-washy and made comments like is this really necessary and if the lawyers expected them to rule as they did in the re Marriage case......don't expect that......and they just dropped the ball, but also the lawyers for our side decided that instead of just challenging Prop 8 on the same grounds as they had done with Prop 22......they went with this stupid revision vs proper amendment argument that blew up in their faces.....what a mess.

When AFER came in with Olson and Boies.......these other groups got all upset......saying it was not the right fight......but again, all they want is donations to do whatever without doing anything at all.

The CSSC has the opportunity to make it right at this point in time and their unwillingness to halt the issuance of Marriage License for Same-Sex Couples is a good sign at this time..........this issue needs to be done once and for all and the proponents of Prop 8 and ANY County Clerk who doesn't want to do their job......need to dealt with to let others know that this sort of delay garbage won't be tolerated!!!

My choice would be to "sanction" the attorney with a fine and loss of license plus if they are a member of a "law firm or group" loss of license and fine for the "firm". Hit them in the wallet and their hearts and minds will follow.

The hypocrisy of the anti gays is blatant in this case.

They defend a State employee for not doing their job, while at the same time they want every AG in the country defending DOMA which SCOTUS has already made clear is unconstitutional.

The anti gay industry's quest for special rights and rules has never been clearer.

The CSSC wanted the Supremes to settle this issue for them once and for all and they bent over backwards to make that happen. First, in the state court challenge to the passed amendment, they didn't allow the question of whether it violated some folks rights, only whether it was an impermissible "revision", provoking the Perry suit. Then when Appeals panel threatened it over the standing issue, they found it whether they wanted to or not. Now that they didn't get what they wanted for Christmas, this mess gets dumped in their laps again. They've already been denied one emergency stay and two temporary injunctions against the issuing of marriage licenses by the state to same sex couples, the handwriting as to what the end result of their suit is going to be is already on the wall. This isn't stopping for them and they aren't getting out of its path, all that's left to be seen is what is going to hit them and how hard.
