CA Supreme Court says NO to request to stop SSM

The California Supreme Court has just denied Prop 8 proponents’ request for a stay on performing same-sex marriage in the state. The proponents asked the court on Friday to stay the marriages and to consider mandating enforcement of Prop 8 in all but two counties in the state, state officials responded, and proponents replied this morning.

The docket page says: The request for an immediate stay or injunctive relief is denied.

These types want immediate gratification and seldom think about what may happen after the laws they pass. Yet they keep preaching how they are so charitable, moral, and obedient to Scripture.
notice a lot of their women ignore:
Jeremiah 4:30
And you, O desolate one, what do you mean that you dress in scarlet, that you adorn yourself with ornaments of gold, that you enlarge your eyes with paint? In vain you beautify yourself. Your lovers despise you; they seek your life.
We never hear the AFA complaining about THAT!
And the commands in the New Testament that women not "do up their hair" nor wear makeup nor ever speak when in a church. Are the female Christian preachers just cherry-picking the bible and choosing the stuff they like ?

Check out the crap I've been given on the "Homophobes are afraid gays will make a pass" thread.

All sorts of posts complain that I won't answer posts. I expalined that for two weeks now I have been busy helping Lisa and that my lifelong friend Debi's husband is in his final 13 cancer treatments! The sympathy the chriSTAINS have shown over my neighbor Lisa almost DYING two weeks ago from a burst appendix is underwhelming.

I patiently explained that for two weeks now I have had 4-5 hours sleep each night and that since Friday I have had 8 hours of sleep. I work part time 3 days a week.

Yet they expect to have every post answered! I skipped over 50 pages on that thread because I had no interest in the trolls that were posting.

So I have deleted that thread from my file. In about a month when things settle down I'll go back and look over the rest of it after I left. It will be funny to see how much they still are griping and bragging about running me off.

O.K., so why are they saying two counties can do the marriages, but the rest can't. Is it somehow related to the fact that two couples were involved in the lawsuit, and they were from different counties? The article doesn't give an explanation.

I think it's kind of moot. The two couples from the original lawsuit, the female couple was from San Francisco area and the males were from Los Angeles.

THIS town of Palm Springs, Riverside County, is having a BONANZA of weddings and all the gigantic profits which accompany such happy events. I saw on the news a local florist who likes gay couples, having to rent out an extra shop to handle the overflow of orders. BTW, the owners ARE a gay couple themselves.

Ya know, it's a wonderful thing to see all this Marriage Equality spreading over the country. Especially since I have entered dotage, and have years and years of activism behind me. It's great to see it coming to fruition. Now if only I could see it in Missouri before I die. For some reason I am thinking of being wrapped in a warm blanket on a cold winter night. Strange, huh?

Their concerns would have made much more sense if they had filed this BEFORE the stay was lifted. Their basic question was what next? Given the turn of events with the Supremes, technically, nothing happened after Walker released his opinion and they threw every possible question at it they could think of as to how it was now going to be interpreted. The question about the clerks relates to whether the decision applies only the two named defendants in Perry, or all of them, because they do have clerks who are opposed to it in their back pocket. Think shotgun blast from the absolute limit of its firing range, theoretically at least, they should be able to hit the broad side of the barn. Somebody moved the barn before they took their shot, they even watched them do it, they took their shot anyways.

Gee, I was correct in my idea that it pertained to only the original two couples. I'm surprised that I actually guessed that.

They tried that one too, the whole thing reads like a group of lawyers sat around thinking of any possible argument to overturn or at least limit the impact of Walker's ruling. The one thing they didn't think of was filing this BEFORE the stay got lifted.

i think the laywers were smoking some wacky weed while "sitting around, thinking of any possible argument". it was the legal equivalent of "here, hold ma beer & watch this!"

I saw a guy interviewed on tv some years ago who was indicted, tried, convicted, sentenced to prison, and HE DID TIME IN PRISON, for violating the state's anti-sodomy law. Apparently the D.A. and judge thought his trial and incarceration on this charge was eminently justified and in the best interests of the state.

What made the case unusual though, was that the instance of sodomy he was convicted of, was an act or oral sex, performed by him, on his ex-wife, consenually, while they were married, in the privacy of their own home. This act of sexual intimacy was revealed during a deposition in the divorce proceedings.

stop laughing. Those same types of lawyers just got their every own Florida version of the OJ verdict. Isn't OJ still in jail?

And the fools are congratulating themselves.(And don't snipe at me 'snyper' for calling certain lawyers fools. It's a legal fact!)
