CA Supreme Court says NO to request to stop SSM

There are 44 comments on the equalityontrial.com story from Jul 15, 2013, titled CA Supreme Court says NO to request to stop SSM. In it, equalityontrial.com reports that:

The California Supreme Court has just denied Prop 8 proponents’ request for a stay on performing same-sex marriage in the state. The proponents asked the court on Friday to stay the marriages and to consider mandating enforcement of Prop 8 in all but two counties in the state, state officials responded, and proponents replied this morning.

The docket page says: The request for an immediate stay or injunctive relief is denied.

I've heard that now the proponents of Prop 8 will appeal to some Divine intervention.......I doubt that's gonna matter......lol!!!

If the CSSC won't halt the issuance of marriage licenses.......how do you think the proponents of Prop 8 will truly fair with their other requests? My guess is they won't and who will they turn to next?

This suit was their last real hope and given that there is not going to be a stay on marriage licenses being issued, we've got a pretty good idea of just how slim their last hope really is. Briefs will be filed by the state on Monday trashing the proponents nonsense, the proponents will feebly reply by the 1st and within a week or so of that we should be hearing the CSSC kicking the proponents to yet another curb. But fear not friends of the proponents, even though the appeal to the CSSC is their last hope, that isn't going to keep them out of the California court system for long. I imagine they'll be suing the state for somehow violating their rights again soon.

On this issue, this is Custer's Last Stand for the proponents, whatever the CSSC decides, they are pretty much stuck with. Their ruling would only be appealable to a SCOTUS where the proponents have no standing. Game, set and match.

Nope. Though I hope the same I am not forgetting that Roe Vs Wade is still being battled today, 40 years later.

Enjoy the moment but NEVER allow yourselves to become complacent.

I believe that the message the CSSC is sending to the proponents should be an indicator of what they should expect.......and like you said, they won't win at SCOTUS at this point!!!

Well, as I have stated......regardless of how this had turned out regarding Prop 8.....it wasn't going to affect the marriages that were legal before the passage of Prop 8.......but, I'm also aware of the fact that every time they fight, they do still try whatever they can.......they are not going to win!!!

But hey, it's perfectly okay for them to make fools out of themselves!!!

Nothing the CSSC rules can be appealed. Their rejections of both the emergency stay and the permanent one would have normally led to trips to federal district court, but that's out here. Once the Court rules out the motion, that's it.

I find it somewhat funny in a pathetic sort of way that the proponents are trying to use the Lockyer ruling as some sort of justification for their position to halt the legal issuance of marriage licenses........but there is a little bit of conflict here......either the County Clerks are under the control of the Department of Health and Vital Statistics and thus under the control of the AG and Governor or they are all individual and under there own control and it can't be both ways.......this is where I think the proponents are going to run into a brick wall.....also, did ya notice that Charles Cooper is NOT the one filing the paperwork or even defending this round of stupidity.......wonder why?

Their right to standing only exists in the CSSC. This is the end of their ride.

Cooper isn't with the ADF, he was with the proponents before they started footing the bills for the defense, it's not at all surprising he's out now. Lockyer is clear, the clerk's job is to shut up and marry who the state says can be married, no more, no less. These are the very same folk who insisted it be that way. These are now the folk who are screwed by their own wins.

I've been saying the same thing about the Federal DOMA law. And DADTDP.

These types want immediate gratification and seldom think about what may happen after the laws they pass. Yet they keep preaching how they are so charitable, moral, and obedient to Scripture.

notice a lot of their women ignore:
Jeremiah 4:30

And you, O desolate one, what do you mean that you dress in scarlet, that you adorn yourself with ornaments of gold, that you enlarge your eyes with paint? In vain you beautify yourself. Your lovers despise you; they seek your life.

We never hear the AFA complaining about THAT!

I wonder if they've considered asking for help from Santorum, Perry or Bachmann. I understand THEY have regular chats with god, and, apparently, he with they. Maybe one of them can put in a good word with their boss man.
