In Portsmouth, A War Of Words Between Gay City Councilman And Biblecrazy Mayor

Feb 19, 2012 Full story: Towleroad 180

When goodhearted mayors across the country signed their names to the Mayors For Freedom petition in support of marriage equality, Kevin Johnson , the First Ward City Councilman in Portsmouth, OH, wrote a very kind and well-reasoned letter to Mayor David Malone asking him to do likewise.

Gays have a bad habit of acting like children and making demands. This does nothing but harm their cause. Throwing glitter on people you don't agree with? WTF is this, the 3rd grade? Screeching like stepped on cats is mature discourse?
That crap won't work. It never has and it never will. Respectable people only respond negatively to such behavior.
Well, now, listen to Martyr, the guy that comes in here on topix and has made crude, juvenile remarks about gay people, including immature slurs and stereotypical rhetoric.

Martyr, perhaps YOU need to grow up. You think you are a know-it-all about EVERY subject. Sure, there are gay people who go overboard, but they don't represent every gay person. You enjoy perpetuating that SAME rhetoric over and over and over and over and over and over.(Just because a sissy boi hairdresser winked at you, you are still bitter.) I know many service men who are redneck morons who joined the military as a last resort, but they do not represent the armed forces as a whole.

I hope your 9 year old son, who I hear is gay, doesn't grow up to be one of those immature gay persons. If he is, I'm sure he learned it from you.

That's why Portsmouth will never progress. Same old redneck mentality.

You know what? I dont think I like Malone, because I hear he is an adulterer.

He is also black, and though I have never really known any blacks personally, I can assume they are 'bad' people. I have been conditioned to believe that.

Is that a fair analysis?

I would think that if a man IS secure with himself enough, he wouldn't care who is looking and enjoying the eye candy.

Seriously, think about it.

Do you REALLY believe that keeping silent and under the radar would have ended DADT? If every gay person was silly enough to do that, would marriage be legal in several states and DOMA under attack in the courts?

Did women stay quiet about voting rights? Did black Americans stay at the back of the bus?

Did American miners and railway workers bow their heads and stay silent and respectful to being all but owned by the "company Store"?

You have never studied history, have you?

So you are saying that assaulting political candidates is the way forward?

If you want to marry a ball point pen that is fine with me. Marriage is an obselete institution that only exists for financial gain. Our society made that obvious long ago.

No, it isn't fine with you; you would come up with dozens of reasons on topix to showboat how intelligent you are and criticize ball point pens.

Obsolete, by the way. <Wink>

That was a scumbag post. It is pretty much on the same level as throwing glitter on people and screeching like attention starved man-children. Now there is some mature discourse. We could all learn soomething from that (what not to do).

Here’s the deal. SSU long term plans are to build on our City Hall property, according to documents we received from David Gleason in the 1990’s. Of the nine SSU Board of Trustees, five are SOGP. That much is solid and in place.
Now if we will get out of City Hall, give over that property to Clay Johnson and Neil Hatcher (SOGP), they can sell it to one of their dummy corporations at a very high price.(illegal, it’s called flipping) Since no money changes hands, because they are just selling it to themselves for say four million dollars, it will raise the value of the property. Then they can show the University how much they paid for it. Four million dollars. SSU should give them four to five million for what was once city property. Your property, my property, our property. After all, five of nine trustees are SOGP. This will work, if you will just get the hell outta City Hall.
Then the project can move forward.(moving forward always means taking more from the public, examples, move forward with the purchase of the Marting’s Building, move forward on buying the Kendricks Building when their business failed, move forward on pay raises for the Mayor, Solicitor and Auditor, move forward on getting to hell out of the city building, etc...
Kevin Johnson, the councilman who wants to declare us a queer city, is leading the charge to get us out of City Hall. He proposed that Mayor Malone sign a ‘Mayors for Freedom” statement. In part it reads:“As mayors of great American cities, we proudly stand together in support of the freedom of same sex couples to marry.” Mayor Malone said no.
I don’t care how queer Kevin is, we should not lend our City’s name to his homosexual lifestyle. Don’t push it on me.
Johnson recently proposed, at City Hall, that we sell the Marting’s building to a secret buyer. This is our property he is making secret deals with. He then wants us to move out of the City Building, into the Marting’s Building, and pay the secret buyer rent for ever and a day. We also get to pay for remodeling the Marting’s Building. This is called moving forward.
Smokescreen! It ain’t about the Marting’s Building at all. It is all about giving our City Hall property over to the SOGP so they can make millions by selling it to the college. GET OUT OF CITY HALL, YOU ARE IN THE WAY OF PROGRESS.
Drunken staggering councilman Rich Sadler,(See Patsys Inn at 3AM), is point man to put the Marting’s proposal on the ballot. In a recent committee meeting, Sadler pressed hard, three times, to give City Council the option to put the Marting’s deal on the ballot. The secret deal that we know nothing of. Sadler denied knowing any of the particulars of the secret Marting’s deal, but insisted that it be part of the solution. He is front man for the SOGP push to get us the hell out of our property at City Hall. A potentially five million dollar deal and Sadler may well believe that it is about the Marting’s building. No Rich Sadler, it is all about getting us the hell out of City property, and giving that property over to SOGP, for sale to their SSU board of Trustees. Sadler, you should get a good cut of the final deal, you are the guy fronting it up. If you collect less than 100 grand, you will have sold us out too cheap.
Finally, the Portsmouth Daily Times will editorialize this as the best thing since sliced bread. We must move forward! The Portsmouth Daily Times gave an editorial that said “now is the time to set democracy aside”, in favor of yet another SOGP deal. Set democracy aside. What more would you expect from a charter member of the SOGP?
Let’s move forward on this and GET THE HELL OUT OF CITY HALL.

There is so much in the Bible one could pick or choose to enforce. Many hetero husbands (in their 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th marriage)seem to prefer the following words of the Lord: "But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.(I Timothy 2:12)" and "Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commended to be under obedience, as also saith the law.(I Corinthians 14:34)" Thus saith the Lord.
