Ok, just when I was about to give up on humans and religion, it does seem there is a silver light at the end of a dark tunnel.

Wonderful to know that there are young people willing to behave like thoughtful people and be accepting of others.

Looking forward to seeing this trend catch on and push darkness away for good.

From what l have seen in Britain, muslims went from being modern and embracing Britsh values to becoming extreme as soon as hard liners imposed on them. So, l don't think that Islam can move forward and change.

Too many too quickly.
A small number growing up and being educated in secular schools will question and assess what they have been taught.
Let in enough to form an enclave with religious schools and the cycle of blindness and violence will continue.

I'd like to see actual stats on this. The key is what the first and second generation offspring turn out to be. I've read they tend to assimilate.

There's no muslim problem in the US yet. There is a xstain fundie problem that is very serious. But those people are already American - it's not clear that their first and second generation offspring will undergo any similar assimilation - they're already local.

No stats, just observations.
Around Sydney the second generation lebanese are a real menace, with the local mp telling the police to "go easy'" on them as they take the suburbs over.

Naturally you don't do statistics.

And "Lebanese" does not denote "Muslim."

I think maybe you have some "race" issues, mate.

Although there's no doubting right wing, "religious" freeeks are a big problem. Of whatever sort. Do you have many uber xstains in Australia? I bet you have your share.

OK. Areas where the people are openly hostile to non muslims. Lebanese muslims. Beards, mosques, women in black sacks, etc.

The police have even formed a "middle eastern" crime squad.

As for stats. Ever hear of political correctness where these aren't allowed to be collected on racial or religious grounds, so you're safe there.

Doubtless there are some christians with extreme views, however they have yet to riot.

Christians riot all the time in Western countries. You're deluded. And they're dangerous theocrats. And the fundie xstain sort sometime kill people, you know, for pro life reasons.....

But they - even the fundies - have so much political power in the West that they usually can just jigger something in the halls of power and privilege. No need to be overtly violent, usually.

Europe has the stats on successive generations of muslims. While Europe may have too many immigrants coming too fast with too little integration or equality of opportunity, data do exist showing that growing up in the culture results in more assimilation. So much for your whipping boy of "political correctness." You don't have facts and you don't inquire after facts. Your claims of your general observations are influenced by your biases.

My note about your conflation of "Lebanese" with "Muslim" stands. Lebanon has always been one of the more religiously diverse places in that area of the world.

I'm very seldom rude, however your treatment of facts is such that the comment "that far up yourself that you could take your own tonsils out from behind" seems appropriate.

More people should point out your racism and christo-centrism.

Funny how you're very rarely rude yet you just disparaged entire ethnic groups and religions without really paying too much attention to any factual bases. But you are very rarely rude....

Then someone's rude enough to mention some facts...and you're wounded and outraged.

Muslims don't comply with statistics. In Britain, East London, Burnley, various other areas, are no go areas. Anyone who makes the mistake of going through so called Muslim areas particularly at night have been beaten up badly. Three Muslims got derisory sentences for beating up on someone but not only, one of them threatened to kill the guy, calling for his companions to give him the knife. The victim managed to flee the scene. An American student in London was left badly beaten up and permanently incapacitated for wandering into a Muslim area late at night drinking from a bottle of lager. He was left for dead. Then there was the beheading of Lee Rigbey in broad daylight, in front of many non-muslims, and he was not in a Muslim so called area.

If the media can keep it out of the spotlight they do, we don't know a quarter of what is going on. Churches have been forced to close through attacks by Muslims in Britain when those areas have a sizeable muslim population, not a lot yet, but some.

Here is an article that explains what happens;

Bishop Nazir-Ali Warns of Attacks on Christians in the UK who face persecution from Muslim communities, warns the Bishop of Rochester in Monday night's 'Dispatches' on Channel 4.
Published 17 September 2007

The Bishop of Rochester, the Rt Rev Dr Michael Nazir-Ali, has warned that a campaign by Muslim extremists in Britain to intimidate and attack Christians risks ending in murder.

The Bishop was highlighting the extent of persecution experienced by Christian during Channel 4's 'Dispatches' programme due for broadcast tonight. He added that it was just a matter of time until a murder took place.

Bishop Nazir-Ali said that the blame lay with Muslim leaders for not offering clear enough teachings to their followers about the importance of religious freedom in Britain.

The Barnabas Fund, a charity highlighting Christian persecution across the world, has estimated that there are more than a thousand attacks each year in Britain committed against Christians

Bishop Nazir-Ali said: "It's not for me to put words into their mouths [Muslim leaders], but I would look to them to uphold basic civil liberties, including the right for people to believe what they wish to believe and even to change their beliefs if they wish to do so."

According to The Barnabas Fund, persecution can take place in the form of verbal abuse and being spat at, but can also escalate to being seriously assaulted by gangs of Muslim men.

Tonight's Dispatches programme will also tell the story of one convert, Nissar Hussein, a hospital nurse from Bradford. Hussein converted to Christianity ten years ago following the death of his younger brother, and he later evangelised and converted his wife.

However, over the past decade his family, including their five children have experienced almost daily abuse and even violence from local Muslims in Bradford.

Windows have been smashed at their home, people have vandalised their property by writing "Christian dog" on their front gate, and their children have even been sworn at and spat at on their way home from school. Hatred has escalated to the extent that the family has received death threats.

Hussein says: "They told me categorically had I been in an Islamic country, ie Pakistan, the Middle East, that they would actually be the first to chop off my head."

The Hussein family eventually moved out of their home after six years, after fearing they would be killed.

Attn. racist trash, I was discussing the process of assimilation in succeeding generations, and I allowed that in Europe (UK included) the influx may be too fast. But the point was what we can expect from their kids and grandkids who grow up in the West.

What you said about the violence can be said for many areas in the US, too, except the violent homesteaders would tend to be white, racist christianists.

We don't have a serious problem with muslim mullahs in the US presently; or problem is christianist mullahs. No doubt both kinds of mullahs are noxious and anti Enlightenment.
