21 regarding the banning of gays in the Boy Scouts of America, why stop at banning gays? Why not also ban Hispanics, African Americans, Jews and people with special needs from joining? Why should this great organization only single out one group of citizens? The truth is: for the last 100 years, there have been gay people in the Boy Scouts and the ... (more)

James it's not a race matter. The civil rights act had nothing to do with gender identification.

Actually, the BSA does curerntly ban people based on religion. And years ago, they discriminated based on race as well.

The key is years ago on race. The BSA is a private organization so they can have who they want.

I agree but that doesn't make it morally right.

They haven't changed their rules, much, America has changed. All they want to do is to protect the children, what is morally wrong with that? You may not agree of their method but that's their call.

Protect them from what Randy? Are Gay and Lesbian people really that scarey and dangerous? They teach in our schools, worship in our churches, donate to our charities, volunteer in our comunity, and contribute to our society in all the ways that straight people do. Pedophiles are a danger to our children and the Scouting organizations and churches protected them for years. THAT is who you need to be afraid of. They are NOT the same thing.

First of all John, why are you attacking me. I'm not scared of any gay or lesbian, plus I'm not defending anyone, I'm just stating their point of view. Obviously you have difficulty comprehanding what I said. Why do the scouts feel this way? Maybe images of the gay pride marches, a scout master showing up in a dress and so on in front of these cub scouts to boy scouts is unacceptable to them. Look what's happened to the girl scouts. Remember, it's the parents who approve of this who put their boys in the organization, so don't blame the scouts. So leave the people alone, don't push your agenda it's their freedom choice like it or not. Remember a woman has the right to choose too.
To put the record straight if they, the scouts, want to accept scout masters who are gay that's up to them, I don't care.

So, Boy Scouts ban any heterosexual participants who have every attended wild spring break festivities or participated in Mardi Gras celebrations due to the wild behavior and lack of clothes? I don't see that in their bylaws.

And they ban all transgender people from participating?

Why?

Do they think it's catching?

Protect them from WHO? Other kids? Kids they've known their whole lives?

Why are you people asking me? I don't give a damn. Ask the boy scouts your questions. I was only guessing why they don't allow gays in the organization. Geezzz.

Soon this argument will be at the side of history with not allowing blacks to vote, or be in the military. It's actually coming around quite fast.

Zach, I am interested in your opinion on the following: at least two students at the Carrollton Elementary School Historical Interpretation/Wax Museum presented their characters in blackface. If you aren't familiar with it as a historical reference, please research it. Personally, I am embarrassed that no teachers or administrators stepped forward to say it was a bad idea and would not be permitted. I feel like Channel 9 news should have been there, and that ultimately it should have ended up as national news.

How about the movie where two black guys played two white women, painted themselves white. I wasn't offended. "cannot believe it" the show was innocent. I didn't even think of racism, it wasn't meant to be racist, should I have thought it was? These kids were HONORING all our historical figures no mater the race or gender. Race did not play into this and an honest person would know it.

Did you ever see the movie "Watermelon Man" ? It is a 1970 movie starring Godfre Cambridge. He playes the first part of teh movie in whiteface because he is supposed to be a caucasion man. One nite, he goes to bed as usual, and in teh morning he wakes up black.

I saw it when it first came out. It's was a cute movie.
