There are 20 comments on the EDGE story from Jun 20, 2012, titled Romney Blocked Anti-Bullying Guide in Mass. Because of 2 LGBT Words. In it, EDGE reports that:

The Boston Globe recently discovered that former governor Mitt Romney's administration blocked an anti-bullying public school guide from being published in Massachusetts in 2006 because officials took issue with the terms "bisexual" and "transgender." At the time, Romney's aides said the guide's publication was being halted because of the length of ... (more)

Always an excuse. If it wasn't those 2 words it would have been something else.

It's time for politicos to put aside all their personal biases and do what is best for people and the country (yes - in that order).

Bullying is a bad thing and stopping it should take priority over some politician's concern over this word or that word.

120 pages? Wow. Bullying should be treated generically, no need to specify any sexual preference or religion or race. One page would do it. Spell out what will happen to those guilty of bullying and then stick to it. If the bullying is physical, the police should become involved and assault charges should be charged.

Well, at least we know that "President Romney" will really be speaking from the "bully pulpit."

All jokes aside, I suspect that a Romney presidency will be a disaster not just for the LGBT community but also for our nation.

We must remove another book from circulation due to offensive words. That book is the Christian Bible. They use the word "begat" as in "A begat B" which we all know means "A f**ked B's mama, and B was the result". I find that very offensive! And the list goes on and on!!

They don't teach the bible in public schools and you are not obligated to live by it or read it.

Be cause there is no difference between being picked on for the shirt your wearing.. that you can go home and change.. and the color of your skin, or your sex, or your sexuality.. things you can NOT change and that are at the core of who you are as a person, Yup.../rolls eyes.

You pick on some one for their cloths your a dick, you pick on some one for being black your a racist. There is a distinct jump in severity here. Being a dick you just need a stern talking to. But if your showing a racist tendency... that requires harsher repercussions, and possibility a consult with a mental health professional.

You must not have spoken to any Christians or Catholics lately. If you had, you would know that is exactly what they want, every one must live by THEIR book.

It's part of Mittens campaign as well, my book says to dislike this, so EVERY one must dislike this as well. The nutter is hoping to make hate and intolerance based on a story book compulsory in our society as are a good many Christians and Catholics.

It's nobody's fault when one chooses to be a pervert and redefine history along with the dictionary. The left leaning moral web destroyers have been seducing us internally for a long long time now, see Clinton and Follywood for referenced brainwashing and recent sultry kiddy shows.

You're right. Have you checked out the pedophiles in the Catholic church lately? Look at Ireland, a staunch Catholic country for hundreds of years, have seen the light and have kicked out the Vatican embassy. It's about time.

Huh? What? I think what you meant to say is the right-leaning, morally-corrupt haters and bigots have been trying to force their religious tenets down all our throats - much like the Taliban has been trying to do in the Middle East. Check out all the ministers spewing hate and vitriol from their pulpits.
The breaking point is near.
Yes, it is. Soon, all those Jesus freaks will be run out of town. And not a moment too soon. Thankfully, we are a resilient species and we will eventually heal from this blight of religion.
Have a great day.

Puhleeeeease, more rationalizing because some priests molest we brush them all. You're argument is so old. The church, or any religion, wants nothing to do with Follywood, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, porn, and so many other vices.
You cannot get by the fact that sodomy is an un-natural and perverse act, if all priests were pedophiles, yes, detain, if all priests are gay, yes, detain. Leave the kids alone!

That's like saying several in a group of people smoke crack, so they all must smoke crack.
Pitiful argument.
Pedophilia is a greater form of sodomy.
Heroin is a greater form of other drugs.
Varying degrees. Out of sight, out of mind, keep your mouth shut, something infantile people can never do. You breached the classrooms where parents have no option, now it's personal.

There are left wing whites.
There are right wing whites.

There are right wing blacks.
There are left wing blacks.

There are left wing jews.
There are right wing jews.

Msnbc can take their left wing pole and stick it!
The same msnbc that could not bring itself this year to say the phrase "fast n furious" til last week.

The left wing is falling and can't get up! Until something is done the downward spiral of America continues.

Missouri is voting this year to prevent such words being said in their public school system not so much they disagree on principle, but more so that being allowed to even say the word will lead to bullying. Either way some sanity finally exists here, and Uganda.

How so? You actually mean you want to continue with four more years of this amateur? Sorry, I think you're sick, misguided, totally ignorant and a good reason why universal sufferage is not a good thing.

I once took a College course in Psychology and one thing I recall was that the need for religious transcendence was one of the few instincts that separated man from the lower animals. So, do away with religion in your brave new world, like the old soviet union and it will come back. Lenin tried to make the state the religion but the Russian people wern't having that.
