MPs divided on the gay marriage issue

There are 5 comments on the Dunstable Today story from Dec 13, 2012, titled MPs divided on the gay marriage issue. In it, Dunstable Today reports that:

Should we respect this country's Christian heritage and accept that marriage is a union between a man and a woman - or endorse proposed legislation to allow same sex couples to wed in church? He claimed in Parliament it would be "directly contrary to what Jesus said about marriage in Mark chapter 10 and Matthew chapter 19." He added as a Christian, ... (more)

Laugh! America outside of the indigenous folk has more of a "Christian" heritage than the UK as the first white settlers were Christian at the time they arrived. Since those of the UK were not (at the time they moved there) wouldn't it be more proper to speak of its Druid and Norse heritage? Maybe Woden wouldn't care about gay marriage. After all, if he blinked he would not notice it.

Every time someone trots out Christianity to justify the claim that marriage should be one-man-one-woman they are showing how ignorant they are of the Bible.

In the Bible there are examples of:

- one man married to many wives

- one man marrying a prisoner of war (the prisoner had no say in the matter)

- "Levirate" marriage -- when a husband dies without fathering children, his wife is expected to marry her husband's brother

- one man marrying his slave, or marrying his wives' slaves

- same sex marriages (David and Jonathan)

It's important to note that the Bible does not condemn any of these forms of marriage.

What a stupid story heading!

Of COURSE the MPs are divided!

They're NEVER unanimous about anything but recessing for lunch and their own pay raises.

It's a pallidly obvious as saying "talentless hack writer from Dunstable".
