Hmmmm, interesting tactic. Every judge recuses themselves so it delays the case moving forward? Could it be even the anti-gays judges know they have no choice but to rule these bans unconstitutional?

Given the reason that Holmes gave for his recusing himself, if he hadn't gone voluntarily, the plaintiffs would have seen to it. Not seeing a tactic here, but a Judge having at least some common sense. He had personal and professional relationships with those to blame for the amendment going back some 30 years, that would be a problem.

My guess is the judge would NOT have been recused. The politics just don't work that way in a place like Arkansas.[Nor most other states.]

What I see is a homophobe with ethical judgment. This is rare, and he should be commended.

Nah. My guess is that he just doesn't want to rule against his and his buddies' prejudices and he already sees that he won't have much choice in the matter. Unless he wants to rule and be overturned (and judges hate that....).

Federal Judge, different standards, having a relationship with any of the parties in a suit, not acceptable, no matter where you are sitting on the bench.

When you're at the top of the food chain, you can get away with more, lowly trial court judges have more people to answer to.

I agree it shows some actual ethics for once. Unfortunately that can't be said for most of the anti-gay judges/justices- like Scalia & company.
