If the Roman catholics want to be stuck in the 3rd century, that's there problem, but they have NO RIGHT to try to impose their narrow beliefs, thru civil law, on ALL Americans, ESPECIALLY those who CHOOSE NOT TO BE CATHOLIC !
My younger sister converted from Lutheranism, in which she was baptized as an infant and raised, to Roman Catholicism 10 years ago. I haven't spoken to her since, and never will again.
Lucky her.

If we all convert to Catholicism, does that mean you will stop talking to us? Hey, get me a priest pronto.

I never tell any one to do anything. I tell them my feelings, and if they agree, fine. If they don't, it's no skin off my nose. I said in that post that I believe that is what they should do. I didn't tell anyone to do anything. It's not my right to do so.

I have asked you repeatedly, not to read, nor to respond to my posts. Why do you feel compelled to ignore those requests ?

Ignoring your postings is like walking in a really heavy rain storm. One can hunch his shoulders, he can pretend it is not wet, but after a while he must raise his umbrella to fend off the onslaught.

I don't hate you, in fact, I admire your taking care of animals and I suspect you are NOT horrible, but I cannot even imagine your over the top OPINIONATED wild eyed theories and attention seeking posts most of the time.

Plus, you cowtow to our gay haters which is INEXCUSABLE.

A fine line, but close enough.

Religion is one of those things one does well to be careful discussing, especially in these times. Last night I saw on public television a meeting in Los Angeles where muslim students complained that they didn't like how people treated them, one young and stupid (but I repeat myself) girl wearing islamic garb and talking about the "murder" of bin Laden. And then she wonders why her fellow more American students don't embrace her. Of course the supporters she brought with her gave her rousing applause.

I have learned very quickly that on Topix, and forums in general, one must parse their words very carefully. And then there are the people, like the woman you describe, that should learn to keep their mouths shut. But we see that every day on here.

I'm not so careful as you... or maybe not so intelligent. Maybe I like to annoy the morons and point out their hypocrisy. Is that possible?

I encourage Mr. Buchanan and like-minded bigots to go for it. Get your hate and bigotry out in the open and make yourselves great shining examples for our youth as what NOT to aspire to be. Get yourselves arrested... be martyrs for your "cause." Just stop pretending that your cause has anything to do with morality or family values or decency. Bigots making spectacles of themselves only help people to see that LGBT are not the real scourge of society, but Par Buchanan and his ilk are.

You have a very warped sense of yourself and greatly overestimate your "power" to "ridicule and humiliate", or otherwise intimidate, others. Although you occasionally make an interesting and cogent point, most of your posts are arrogant, combative, self-aggrandizing attempts to inflate your own ego. You come off as small and belligerent rather than imposing and authoritative.

People like Pat use the Bible as a weapon against others rather than as a weapon against their own vanity. These types never like being reminded that what they are preaching is a direct contradiction of the message of Jesus. Obey civil laws and treat other people with dignity and respect.(see 1 Peter 2:13-17; Titus 3:1)
Pat may want to take a refreesher4 course on the Bible starting with:
Leviticus 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.
Leviticus 19:34 But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
Matthew 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Beautifully stated. Pat and his ilk are why I consider myself spiritual rather than religious, and a follower of Christ rather than a Christian.

And please don't lump Protestants in with the crazy Catholics.

There are many Protestant denominations, and individual Protestant churches that support marriage equality, and allow LGBT people to marry in their churches.

<S>
Were you around in 2012 when the Republicans were drooling all over themselves, thinking that four years of obstructionism and politics-as-usual were going to make Obama a one-term President?

Dick Morris boasted that Mitt Romney would collect 325 electoral votes; George F. Will projected a more modest 321; and Michael Barone and Dean Chambers predicted 315 and 311 respectively. Karl Rove, bless his very, very small heart, opined that Romney would win with "at least 270 electoral votes".

I can't remember the exact final results (not much I can't), but wasn't it 322 to 206 in favor of the incumbent Democrat? And wasn't there some talk among the Republicans themselves that they were in big, big, BIG trouble?

Of course, that was so long ago ...

Oh, I don't lump them together. The crazy Protestants are in a class all their own.

Simply supporting marriage equality and "allowing" same sex couples to marry in their churches may be your litmus test of what constitutes an acceptable faith community, but it's not mine.

And, as usual, your post has NOTHING to do with the topic on hand, NOTHING. I really think you are losing it...and not registered either, my my. And a name changer on top of it. A liar and a coward. Yep, that about ties it.

Deny that you do NOT change your name constantly and are too cowardly to register, deny it and I will apologize. Cue Jeopardy music.

I've been watching "Rock Center" about the Boston bombings and thought of something about your posts.

Not ONE word of sympathy or concern about the victims, not one, only your own paranoid self centered rants and raves, yet ZERO sympathy for death or severely damaged humans. Typical of you.

I agree that I'm arrogant and sometimes combative. I'm also very good at exposing and humiliating hypocrites. I doubt that my posts are self aggrandizing, but if it makes you feel good to think so, I invite you to think that. Considering those in this forum that I expose and humiliate, do you really think my ego needs inflating, or could be inflated by the idiots? If you really do, so be it.

And if it makes you feel bigger to say that I'm small and belligerent, please feel big and strong saying that. Belligerence is associated with some level of anger. I mean seriously. I'd have to have some emotional investment in the idiots to get angry over their silly nonsense. Think about it. Do they, or could they ever, really affect my thinking or beliefs? No. That is not to say that everybody in this forum, or that everybody who disagrees with me is an idiot. I've actually had a few entertaining, and occasionally enlightening exchanges with a very few intelligent people in here.

But if you don't approve of what I say or how I say it, I'll just have to learn to live with your disapproval.

It will be difficult.

Well, if you choose to use your free speech to lie about, rally hatred around that group, and harm others, then you should expect that they, and those that care about them, will use their right to free speech to shout you down.

Anyone who calls for "civil disobedience" against providing other law abiding tax paying Americans basic civil rights and equality under the law should expect to be called a foo, and worse.
