She might have helped Britain economically, but she was still an evil bitch. If I believed in hell, I would have hoped she'd rot there.

No she wasn't - she was effective - she wasn't great. Some of us won't miss her in the slightest.

Her support of Section 28 has forever sullied her reputation.

David Cameron credits that "effective" leader with turning the UK around when it was on the verge of destruction. The USA could use such an "effective" leader. See, we don't even need great, just effective. Unfortunately, we don't have it.

I said she was effective - but she was not a great leader.

She was a heartless nasty so and so on many issues and while she good things for the economy she also spurred violent social upheaval during her tenure.

I mean she got a lot of people killed unnecessarily. Had she not taken on and WON the Falklands issue she would never have retained in power.

So she shouldn't have respond to the invasion by Argentina invsaion, by a dictator, and should have let the Argentine Army remained there ?

(btw, the U.S. covertly aided Britain in the war).

Foxy I think you have trouble reading sometime. Where do you see me saying she should not have taken on the Falklands issue? Let me rephrase a bit clearer - I said "Had she not taken on the Falklands issue and WON she would not have won another term in office". I.e. Her tenure was due to an international circumstance not to anything she achieved at home.

I lived in Britain during Maggie's reign and I can tell you it was great if you were a business but if you were a struggling human - life sucked under Maggie and if you were a gay human your life sucked poorly under Maggie's reign of conservatism.

Your armchair evaluation from across the pond carries no weight.
