Is Islam the Religion of Peace?

Oct 1, 2012 Full story: www.news24.com 277

I'm a free thinker, free from religious dogma. What I can't understand is why Muslims move to democratic countries and riot and cause trouble ...

Muslims abroad get to do what they like, when they like and how they like, but heaven forbid a person who is not a Muslim says something about them ... Full Story

from news24:

Any religion that cannot withstand the test of criticism has less a reason to exist than any criticism it may receive. Perhaps the UN should focus the discussions on outlawing religious violence rather than outlawing 'blasphemy' or other forms of critical speech. This is very disturbing that an international body would be so quick to cave in to intolerance and stupidity ..."

Didn't Obama cave-in as well during his recent UN speech?

So much for the First Amemdment.

The Obamaniac is a committed socialist and as such he does not support the First Amendment. Everyone already knows this.

If that happened , leaders would find no people to control, especially in our region .

Saleemz and greetings to you, infidel Americans. Islam is the religion of peace, when everyone on the world will be Muslim and every man has access to virgins, everything will be peaceful. Try a virgin my friend, and may Allah walk with you. Peace be upon him and you.

The case with America is an exception. I want all who don't like Obama out because our people are going to replace them. We will change from within. You will see a new America in 2200.

No, but no other "religion" can lay much credible claim to being THE Religion of Peace, either. There are those individuals who profess a belief in those religions, who also believe in peaceful coexistence. But other than it being a preaching of all the major faiths on the planet and probably most of the don't fit into those categories religions as well, there ain't a whole lot of practicing and the Gods get the blame.

How many of those other religions practice an equivalent of Islam's jihad?

Christianity has barely grown out of its convert or die phase, how soon we forget. The real question is, how many of those other religions haven't engaged in Jihad like activities at one or more points during its run?

If you can't even distinguish christianity from islam, what else are you incapable of discerning?

Exactly how is any form of religiously motivated violence different from another, other than the deity allegedly masterminding it? A zealot with explosives is a zealot with with explosives, personally, I don't think that whatever God they are blaming for setting them off really matters. Those who lay claim to Islam can be just as scarily dangerous to the safety of others as those who lay claim to Christianity or ANY other of the generalized categories of religious beliefs. What pray tell is there left for me to discern?

Then you concur with that other great thinker of our age, Rosie O'Donnell, who said that "radical Christianity is just as dangerous as radical Islam," as if nuns where piloting the planes that crashed into the WTC on 9-11.

Or can't you discern nuns from jihadists?

Spaketh the wise man who cannot seemingly discern his *ss from his elbow and doesn't discern Jihadists from Imams who preach peace (yes, they do exist). I lost people I once worked with on 9/11, I used to have a job which meant spending a great deal of time on the 104th floor of the North Tower in an office that would have had one hell of a view of the plane crashing into the building ten stories below, where I spent the rest of my working hours offered me a skybox view of the truck bomb attack back in 1993, I was even on the phone with someone on the 101st floor when the bomb went off, it sounded like a loud thump happening in another room, I was told it shook the building. It really doesn't matter what f*cking god is being blamed for it, the people doing the blaming are the ones at fault.

A bomb thrower is a bomb thrower.

Are you pretending to be this slow on the uptake, or are you actually this obtuse in real life? Every religion has their unfortunate share of bomb throwers dear. Killing people in the names of the gods has been a far too frequent pastime of mankind ever since we found them. You're only freaked out about Islam because up until now, it had been the Christians job to kill inferior Christians and assorted non-believers. Now in the name of God you got competition.

Christianity is no more a "Religion of Peace" than is Islam, or any other religion for that matter. Despite repeated messages to the effect of peaceful coexistence in just about all their literature and the existence of peace oriented groups and sects within every major religion, the mainstreams of religion have, for the most part, always been intensely not peaceful.
