"Western liberalsí ultimate embrace of Islam"
We need to face the possibility that the left-liberal citizens of the West really do hate our civilization and really do desire that it come to an end. True, they may not be completely consistent (and certainly not consciously explicit) about this, since they still want their material comforts and familiar way of life to continue, for the time being. Nevertheless, civilizational surrender and suicide is the true end toward which Western liberals are moving.

I think I'll have some whine with that chicken.

The USA has the most medically uninsured citizens of any democracy in the world. Pass the baked beans.

Actually, the liberals put together a pretty good system, until the politicians, both Democrats and Republicans, started meddling in it, now it's defunct because of the meddling and robbing done by both types of politicians. The country cannot exist without both liberal and conservative methods, and if you aren't strong enough, or honest enough, to admit that, then you're in the wrong country. Now, if only the government had some liberal politicians, and some conservative ones, but no politician in the US today is liberal or conservative, if you believe they are what they claim to be, then you are even more deluded than those who believe in some imaginary old guy judging them, and I'm not talking about Santa.

Nobody is stopping you from helping the poor and old. You are a pseudocompassionate since you want to do it with other peoples money.
I love this argument. The way to pay for health care for the elderly is for individuals to make donations.

The way to feed the poor is to drop some cash in the bucket for the guy on the corner if the freeway exit.

I should stop providing anesthesia for a living and open a soup kitchen.

So well thought out. Tell you what; if you want to trade stocks online, you build your own Internet, k? If you want to drive to the bank, you build your own road, k? Home school your children too please.

Do you drive on roads? What about walk down the street safely? If your house catches fire will you put it out yourself? Face it, we need some socialism, not purely socialism, but we do need it. In Seattle they made sitting on sidewalks illegal, all the jails filled up with homeless people, most were genuinely disabled and incapable of paying for themselves, and it cost the city billions back when a billion was a lot of money. So they found a better solution, start up a bunch of shelters, places people can go for free, even offer tax subsidies for some buildings to have public spaces, now it costs a few hundred million per year instead of billions, and now billion isn't even a lot of money. It wasn't liberals in this city that came up with the idea of the shelter expansion, it was us conservatives, we weighed the costs and found it to be the best solution, and it has been, now we just have to get the liberals to stop pushing for these "high class" retail stores and we could get Seattle back to being a profitable city again. Yes, it's the liberals harming the system here, but what you are blaming them for is actually mostly conservative ideas, not liberal ideas. Helping the poor is more profitable than not helping them, it generates more income. The liberals here want to just let them "hang out" instead of doing something, which hurt the economy a lot, filthy people sitting on the sidewalk in front of a business does harm to that business, and jails cost a fortune to operate, it's cheaper to fund a few shelters ultimately, and to allow businesses to thrive instead of regulating them all out.

That includes state and local and sales taxes. Property taxes, etc.

My income and payroll taxes are about 32%.

And 15% millionaire taxes are a joke. They need to pay the same as me.

You want to cut social safety nets so millionaire investors can pay a lower effective tax than people like me who drag ass out of bed every day to go to work? THAT'S Class warfare right there.

Actually, they do pay as much, however since they are not paid by another source the fees and processing costs are not paid for by them either. In reality, you don't pay any more than they do, the number 15% is the tax line, that's what everyone above poverty pays. Most of what your checks say is to taxes is actually used on things like processing the taxes, paying for benefits, even insurance costs are often added to that "tax" amount. Millionaires still pay sales tax and all that. I don't pay nearly as much sales tax as Bill Gates, because I order online a lot, and only pay tax for some of the products, especially considering I order a lot from China or Mexico directly. I pay no income tax either, as my career is not considered a "job" by the government and my income is below the poverty line, I pay nothing, not even processing fees. It's all perspective, and yours is as skewed by the media as the rightwingnuts who think everyone but the millionaires is getting a free ride. Until you all get grounded in a bit of reality, no problem will be solved, which is what the politicians want, they want you to keep arguing over the made up imaginary numbers that mainstream media throws at you instead of looking at where the real problems are.

I'm not including sales tax in my tax rate. Just to clarify in case I wasn't clear.

As to your second statement, it's my opinion that the center is made to look left leaning because the right has thrown themselves over the crazy cliff.

Having said this, I aknowledge that my perspective is influenced by my personal views and the media. However, I do think Medicare is a centrist idea and I do think that letting the sick rot is further right than I am ready to accept.

I DO NOT accept that the wealthy pay a tax rate the same as mine. That is absurd. Did you miss Mitt Romneys tax statement? Did you miss Barak Obama's tax returns?

I was specifically targeting investment income tax rates, which are lower than mine.

You want to reduce my tax rates to 15% to match theirs, fine. But don't defund Medicare. Can't make the math work on that? Then their tax rates have to come up to mine. Off-shore accounts have to be taxed. Investment income needs to be taxed the same as employment income. There needs to be some basic fairness and some simplicity would help.

That's just it, you are confusing conservative with those who have a god delusion. The truly conservative idea is that people help, willingly, just because it's better for everyone. Also again, your taxes are already the same, just the government can't charge them processing fees for things that don't get processed, and that's where most of what you pay is from in the first place. If you want to reduce your taxes, make the government stop inflating fees just because they want to.

Red herring fallacy.

Ask any real business owner, and don't claim you are, if they want someone who cannot get a house or job to sit in front of the store because they have no place else to go. Perhaps you just want them to all camp out in your yard instead? Or house them in your home? Any of that? I would prefer not to have any junkies living with me, especially rent free. Letting the government handle things isn't cheap.
