Thousands protest gay marriage

Thousands of Christian conservatives spent 12 hours Saturday praying and fasting in front of the state Capitol at a gathering organizers described as spiritual repentance "when there is no hope for a nation." The daylong religious event titled, "TheCall to Conscience," was led by Lou Engle as well as other pastors and speakers to protest gay ... Full Story

Meanwhile, many folks who do not describe themselves as religious or conservative stayed home and did stuff this weekend.

They don't like the term 'marriage' to describe a homosexual union based upon a whole lotta history and tradition.

Let the voters voice be heard for once. The people of Cali voted and a judge is pushing his agenda on everyone else who voted against it. What disgrace this is.

Frank, why rewrite a society standard? Take your legal unions and go with it.

Well, once again a mob of mystical myopics loiter long enough to remind people why the founders wanted separation of church and state. As the mob hymned and hollered, I am certain not one of the sheeple present took the time to ask 'what about this Constitution thing?''Does it apply?'

Then again, it's likely not much intelligent conversation took place during the din of proselytizing zombie wonks as they swayed and mumbled.

The Separation clause isn't in the Constitution RIWA.
You need to look up the Danbury letter and Jefferson's response.

So then when are LBGT activists going to stand outside churches and protest adultery, child molestation, drug abuse and a wide variety of other sins that occur within the churches but are swept under the rug?

Let he/she who is without sin cast the first stone!

Aren't some of these folks the same people who said that blacks and whites couldn't marry? Or that blacks should sit at the back of the bus?

Are you aware that there was a law on the books that said that it was illegal for men to molest any child except their daughters? Pretty sick isn't it.

Just because society thinks something that is wrong is right, doesn't make it right.

<<Right on brothers and sisters. Marriage is one woman, one man. >>

So Abraham, Moses, David, etc.. are all going to hell because the bible says they had plural marriages?

Their marriages were one man and as many women as they could get!

They should, if that church approves of adultery, child molestation, and drug abuse...however, most Churches already have taken a stand against those sins and offer counseling for people who are trapped in them as well the sin of homosexuality.

They did it and in every case in the Bible it resulted in disfunction and or tragedy. That's why Jesus said that God's plan from the beginning was the 'one man and one woman' model.

Actually it was Democrats who said that. In fact, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a lifelong Republican ~ you know, the same party Abraham Lincoln belonged to.

I can understand counseling for adultery/rebuilding relationships and for drug abuse, but how is counseling going to "help" someone who is gay?

Meh. I have better things to do with my time than sit on my knees with anorexia for a day, hoping it will conjure up some magical force to eliminate gay people. If that's your cup of tea go right ahead.

Christians, Jews and Muslims condemn the perverted acts of homosexuals. These three religions encompass almost 70 percent of the world's population and in the Middle East practicing homosexual acts could get offenders the death penalty.

This continuing push by gays to be legally married and engage in homosexual sex acts will never be accepted by the religious communities because they know it's nothing but perversion as opposed to the union of a man and a woman.

guess what publius2? gay people can and do, get married, in christian churches, all the time. you and your spouse, would not be legally married though, unless you had a state issued marriage license. religion has nothing to do with marriage equality.
