I suppose we should be thankful in some measure for our opponents. They keep moving our cause further along by demonstrating their ignorance. If they keep up the way they are gong, we will have all but won this struggle before much more time elapses. We would most likely not be where we are without their writing laws to exclude us from equality.

Considering just about every "liberal" state already HAS marriage equality, that leaves only the "conservative" states.

We always knew this is how it would happen, though even I didn't think it would happen THIS fast. I was hoping we'd have 20 states by 2020 and THEN go back to the SCOTUS.

We're about 4 years ahead of schedule- assuming a 2016 SCOTUS ruling.

Newsflash, Brian: Obama did not appoint the judges who are overturning the bans on same-sex marriage. According to the logic of these idiots, Obama was responsible for Adam and Eve's apples.

Of course conservative are getting on board...,it's an election year...but the only votes they will get are the Log Cabin ones. / And our Gov. Nixon(D) of MO. needs to veto any bill the MO House brings up like AZ did. They are working on one now. The House and Senate are (R) dominated.

I'm not at all worried about our Governor Nixon. He's on record as wanting to overturn the ban on same sex marriage, he's instructed the state treasury to accept joint income tax returns from same sex couples married in other states, and he extended same sex spousal benefits to members of the Missouri National Guard.

The Missouri legislature can churn out all the homophobic bills they want, but it's all posturing and grandstanding on their part. They'll never be signed into law under Nixon's administration.

What the religidiots and the hate-mongers don't seem to get is that when this whole marriage equality fight started, the courts and the legislatures were both all but completely ignoring us.

It wasn't until the haters started screaming and hollering and passing *clearly* animus-based, punishing legislation that the courts and the legislatures started noticing us.

So, yeah. Thanks, Haters!! Without you all demonstrating such outrageous bigotry and intolerance toward the gays, we would have had a MUCH harder fight to even just be noticed. But NOW, the more you scream, the more the need to protect our rights becomes clear.

Isn't it funny how things always seem to work out for the best?

Actually 3 of the 6 judges have been appointed by Obama, plus 2 more by Clinton. Only 1 (KY) was appointed by a Republican.

Poor Brian "Spittle" Brown.

The current SCOTUS is hardly Obama's. His two women didn't alter the balance due to the retirements involved.

All these state's court decisions are a matter of the states deciding on marriage equality based on their state constitutions and on Windsor, regardless of which politician elevated them to their benches.

It is being left up to the states as we speak.

At least until there's a significant majority with marriage equality. At that time, exactly as with Loving and most states already having interracial marriage, we can expect SCOTUS, probably no more of an Obama court by then, to step in and make everything uniform nationwide.

What Brown mean to lament is that the fundies and mormon whatever it is and retrograde RCC hierarchy are losing.

Maggie and Brian have merely expanded globally. There appears to be no shortage of homophobia in Africa and Russia. His gravy train has turned into more of a luxury cruise line.

Expanded globally? I read on here to time ago that NOM was operating millions in the red. How do they keep going?

A must read. Internationally, gay rights are in worse shape than you probably imagine.
