According to the bible and the Jewish texts, God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because they refused to treat others the way they themselves wanted to be treated. They refused to follow the Golden Rule, just as you are doing. It had nothing to do with love and commitment between two adults of the same sex.

The point of Sodom was that you should love others, not abuse them. It was about harming them instead of treating them the way you want to be treated. It was about how you treat "the stranger at the gate." It had nothing to do with loving same sex relationships based on mutual respect and love between adults.

God's stated motive, see Genesis 18:16-33, unspecified "grievous sins".
