I'm sure that's very nice, but you didn't address the fact that in one story Satan takes Jesus to the top of a mountain and shows him ALL the kingdoms of earth. How would that be possible on an earth shaped like a sphere? What about the kingdoms beyond the horizon?

Then howcome people were arrested and locked up as heritics by the church for saying the earth was sphrical?

And since when are YOU an expert in Hebrew, Miss Shiksa??
Is 22:18 He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a ball into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord's house.
So don't even TRY to say there is no Hebrew word for sphere. A ball is ALWAYS a sphere. A circle NEVER is.
You are ignoring the point. The word dur does not specifically indicate as sphere as it is used to indicate being encircled in a two dimensional manner in the Bible and a sphere is three dimensional.

Grow up and dispense with the childish name calling. Somebody with the issues you have ought not to be throwing stones as in a glass house.

The Hebrew word for ball is dur. A ball is a sphere... EVERY time.

The original Greek indicates a high place and says nothing about the high place being a mountain. For all we know the high place could have been the moon and that the duration of that temptation could have been a period of 24 hours in which Jesus would have seen a full rotation of the Earth. Your post proves nothing. My post was only to give a possible explanation and not necessarily that I am saying that this was how it went down as the Bible gives no specific details.

The Catholic Church has been known to make many dogmas at odds with the Bible. Many of their positions out and out contradict the Bible. The original manuscripts that the Bible is translated from predate the R.C. Church.

Somebody being encircled while standing on the earth certainly isn't being encircled in three dimensions. The whole point is that dur is not exclusively used to denote a sphere.

And let me tip you off to a little secret that seems to have escaped you: two dimensional objects do not exist on this planet. They are theoretical mathematical constructs ONLY.

I will encamp against you all around. I will encircle you.(Isaiah 29:3) The same word dur is used in this package and it obviously does not refer to a sphere of any type. The word dur can mean a circle, sphere, or a heap in Hebrew. Your spiel about theoretical mathematical constructs is basically true, but it is totally beside the point here and it is nothing but an irrelevant diversion to evade the point I am making.

You are not making a point. You are trying to twist the Hebrew to mean what you want it to mean. Draw a circle around a camp and see how well that protects it from rain.

If the writers had wanted to say the earth was a sphere, they would have used the word for ball. They did NOT. They used the word for circle. It's not exactly a secret that ancient people thought the earth was flat. A circle is flat.

I am just pointing out the different ways it is used in the Bible. The circle referred to in the context of the verse certainly was not a protective dome, rather it was an instrument of judgment in the form of a siege against the Jewish nation. These are the words of God that he would build siege towers around Jerusalem before destroying it much as a conquering army would. Nothing is said about rain here. You are the one cleverly trying to distort the Hebrew like a lawyer trying to distort the words of a contract in litigation.

Distort the Hebrew???? Do YOU read Hebrew? I didn't think so.

Are siege towers two dimensional?

The moon!? How did they get there? You are aware of the fact the moon doesn't have an atmosphere, don't you? I find your desperation amusing. Why not just accept the fact the people who wrote the story thought the earth was flat?
