THAT'S why we can't ignore them.
Please cite the Constitutional Right that the Mormon Church must recognize and give marriage to Gay couples. Are you telling us that the Federal Government should dictate and require the Church to provide marriage to Gay couples?

You seem to be confused. Even if same sex marriage is legalized in Utah, the Church ofJesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is under no obligation to perform or recognize same sex marriage. Their, bigoted, views are protected under the first Amendment guarantee of the free exercise of religion. What Foxy is referring to is the active participation by the church in the political struggle for marriage equality, which is a civil right guaranteed by the state. As a not for profit 501 (c) 3 the church is prohibited from participating in political activities.

The right of the church to hold bigoted views is in no way impacted by the legalization of same sex marriage, nor would they, or could they, be compelled to participate in such marriages.

And they have EVERY right to believe that and they will NEVER be forced to marry ANY couple they don't believe should be married, gay or straight. That's what religious freedom is all about.

The Mormon Church *already* refuses to marry anyone that's not Mormon. Contrast that with the Catholic Church that have carved out a few loop-holes so they can collect the wedding fees to marry Catholics to non-Catholics.

And my understanding is that Mormons already completely ban anyone that's not Mormon from even attending a Mormon wedding.

All that's perfectly fine and well within their rights as a constitutionally protected religious institution.

So why are they making such a big deal out of this? Money. It's a good way to frighten their idiots into sending them more cash. No surprise there.
