I remember that story. I recall a short book that explored the perils created by gay rejection and denial.

Loved it! I read it in the 70's as well as her next book "The Fancy Dancer." I believe she lives in L.A. now. She really helped the gay community get a positive image of itself as the struggle for gay rights was beginning.
