I'd like to hear the actual basis for that claim. Its just a definitional statement. So here's mine: marriage as an institution is for any two people who want to get married! Period!"

I'd like to know how anyone can justify JCS's as correct and mine as not.

In the event that you want to use the bible - sorry - we have this little thing called the separation between church and state.

Separation between church and state is not in the constitution. Same sex marriage however is in the bible. We will not tear out Romans 2

Wrong.

Marriage is a cultural institution not based on love or want to marry but based on the nuclear family: husband, wife and children. It's evolution is derived from the importance of child-rearing and attempting to maintain contentedness between offspring and biological parents.

As to regard to "separation of church and state." It is no secret that those supporting homosexual marriage wish to use the state (and other means) to impose recognition of these couples on churches. Surely you believe that no such imposition should be attempted due to its obvious infringement on "separation of church and state." Right, Hmmmmmm?

Mr. Butcher, where do you get this crap? Human beings have been on the planet in current biological form for something on the order of 200,000 years.(And even if you want to be a biblical literalist about it, its still been 5-6000 yrs). This "nuclear family" you speak of is a very recent "invention" of Western culture over the last couple hundred years.

Take a cross-cultural & cross-historical look at human beings on the planet. The man/woman/biological children notion of "family" is an exception, not a norm.

Legalizing gay marriage doesn't do a darn thing to impose anything on churches.

And, sorry - but no one is going to ever convince anyone serious that the Judeo-Christian religious tradition as expressed in the bible is a valid basis for laws in the U.S.

I have a "new" idea for you - how about everyone minds their own damn business?

Yeah. And the bible and god most certainly are not in the constitution. If you'd like to have a state run by a mythical religious text perhaps you should move to Iran or Afghanistan. I think you'll find like minded people there.

Just to be clear...you're saying that the "nuclear family" didn't exist in Europe or Asia prior to the last couple hundred years? Really?

I could care less what you believe or who you want to live your life with but the "anyone serious" type swipes have become typical of fringe elements (and yes, as much as you want to believe it, gays are still not mainstream) trying to appear intellectually superior by implying that "if you don't agree with me you must not be serious/intelligent/whatever. "

That line of reasoning actually makes you look defensive and insecure. Let's face it, C.S. Lewis and other very bright people believe in what you call a mythical book- do you believe you are somehow his intellectual superior?

Oh yea, and you no little about the law if you believe that the Judeo-Christian religions are not the basis for current laws (both statutory and common law).

What is annoying about the pro gay marraige crowd is their insistance that everyone agree with their views while they insult/ridicule the beliefs of others.

I believe in the bible and its saying that why god made adam and eve so they would keep each other and enjoy each others company,if god wanted a man be with a man he would have made two men,or two women. Its none of my affair what a women or man do behind close doors .but I don't believe that they should be allow to get married or they should be allow to get their partners retirement either,Don't take me wrong I do have friends, cousins, and nieces that are gay,but that's their business but when it comes to god thats my business ,his son jesus died on the cross for me.yes Va is for lovers has been for years, but thats it for lover not meaning we should allow gays to get married in the state of va ,this is god state if we turn. against god we are bound for hell.so all you va who believe like I do dont allow thsi bill to pass in Va

There are some gays and lesbians that don't agree with this....

We get tired of everyone pulling out the bible when all we want is to love one another and be treated equally. There are some homosexuals that want to fight and throw words around and continue to hate you for your beliefs but then turn around and want you to believe theirs..... but that's not all of us.

Again, I just want to marry the love of my life and raise our beautiful family together without being surrounded by hate. I don't want to force my life on you because I wouldn't want yours forced on me.

Just try to remember that this doesn't represent 100% of the gay community!

Happy Valentine's Day!

The Gallup polls says that 73 percent of people oppose homosexual marriages. That should be justification - the will of the people. Enough said.

Typical liberal moron - playing a race card when totally off topic. If you want to go off topic lets say that liberals should be burned at the stake.
