Obama Elects Openly Gay Federal Judge in Oregon

There are 16 comments on the www.southfloridagaynews.com story from Sep 27, 2012, titled Obama Elects Openly Gay Federal Judge in Oregon. In it, www.southfloridagaynews.com reports that:

A county judge in Oregon was nominated to the US District Court by President Obama last week. Judge Michael McShane is the first openly gay federal judge in Oregon.

McShane’s position will solidify if Obama wins a second presidential term in November. After which the Senate confirms his nomination. McShane previously served as a public defender in Portland and as a pro tempore judge. Most recently, McShane held his position as a judge in Multnomah county for 11 years, processing an estimated 100 cases a month.

Both of Oregon’s senators, Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden, approved of McShane’s nomination. “Michael has a long track record that demonstrates his commitment to equal justice under the law. Widely known for his service to the community, he has made Oregon a better place,” said Senator Wyden in a statement last week.

Favorite thing about this is, it'll upset the living shit out of "them." They can't keep their yapping, snot-spewing mouths shut, they can't stop obsessing, and they'll scream themselves hoarse *yet again*.

I adore it beyond words.

Adore, adore, adore.

There's *NO WAY* that *ANYONE* can stop *ALL* of this from happening; it is and *will be* inevitable. Even the antigay are just beginning to recognize that (which has produced such jaw-dropping, satanic vitriol from them that I'm surprised some aren't dropping dead from heart attacks, aneurysms, etc.). There's no way to stop all of this, none. It's like god is spitting in their faces and letting them know what *compassion, equality and justice* REALLY are about.

mea culpa. I just got up and didn't have any coffee yet. I should have caught the mistake the writer of the article used.

You are absolutely correct. It should say appoint not elect.

I'll fix it now my friend.

We both missed the error. It a nomination not an appointment or election.

My bad.

My apologies.

Fixed it now.

Not exactly. It's only a colloquial custom that the Senate Judiciary Committee seems to vote "for" the Appointee. Legally, their role is merely to advise and consent. Technically, they are declaring that they have no objections. Constitutionally, they are Executive Appointments to the Federal Bench.

The cat's out of the bag. I think we see their "truth" in their vitriol: They can't stand losing, and they have come right up to the edge of the line of slander now, literally attacking *EVERYONE ALIVE* who supports gay rights.

Haven't you seen the antigay people on this board who claim *organizations are packed with gays*, etc., because those organizations support gay rights? etc. etc.

If every single pro-equality person is gay, then that make over half the population gay. There are so many who claim the first half of the above sentence, it's ridiculous.

I don't get what they claim, in finality, is *being accomplished* by the pro-gay "agenda" (or their version of it, their claims about it). What is being accomplished?

I hope to see Obama do a second term. Absent that, I'm not sure it'll matter because *on the day that Romney takes office*, the pro-gay will be plotting to undermine him *JUST* as the antigay *PLOT* to undermine Obama. (The difference is that the antigay are also virulently racist.)

Unlikely.

Face the facts: anti-gay bigots are a dying breed. Your main constituents are the elderly.

Everyone you "oppose" is "gay." You realize how self-referential this is, right?

I think you don't get *how* clear this is to many other people here.

There shouldn't be anymore conflict of interest in his being appointed than there would be for a woman appointee. We don't see all male judges deciding women's issues.

Endlessly, endlessly obsessed with a topic *which shouldn't be in your thoughts* if you are "unaffected" by it.

Explain to the board how being "unaffected" by this topic *prompts your obsession on a daily basis*.

Explain that.

You raise some interesting points. I hope you'll like the ones I raise.

How are they going to deal with this after the Judge Walker "Abomination"?{snick er} I would THINK they'd like to know ahead of time the guy is gay so they can keep a close watch on his judicial record. The problem is the clueless twits who come on here saying they don't like people "BROADCASTING" their sexual identity.

Right.

Just tell one of those right wing women they can't publish their wedding announcement or any pictures. Hell tell a left wing women too and see what happens. Course anyone who is close with a left wing women wouldn't be that stupid.
