After four messages and a few phone calls over the past few weeks, I finally got a response from the state senator representing my district in Delaware. He will be voting against my civil right to marriage.

"For 36 years I have seen and lived marriage as being with one man and one woman," he said. Good for you, Senator Lopez. You've got yours, screw anyone else.

That's what you get for living in the Deep South where people marry their cousins and wonder what the word "shoes" means.... LOL

I was born in Brooklyn. To me "The Deep South" starts on Staten Island.

(And West Virginia, where I lived for a couple of years, and which WAS originally part of The Commonwealth Of Virginia, generally considered a "southern" state, actually stretches NORTH OF The City Of New York.)

I don't know enough about it, but I recall hearing that West Virginians do not want to be associated with the "deep south" culture of Virginia -- "West -- by god -- Virginia" was a slogan to distinguish them from their neighbors across the border.

I lived in Huntington, West Virginia for a couple of years (having moved there from The Town of Huntington, New York), and to this day Huntington, WV was the ABSOLUTE GAYEST place I have ever lived ! Living there was the BEST time in my life !:)

We stopped there overnight the last time we drove to the Midwest, and I would have to agree - a great, gay city!

Except for Fire Island, I've never seen, nor lived in, a place with a higher proportion of gay people, and such a HUGE number of drag queens. I had teh BEST time of my life there ! And I had no idea that Huntington was so gay, until after I moved there. When I lived there in 78 - 80, there were 3 gay bars there, and I become a bartender at the gay bar that was teh oldest gay bar in the state.
