He obviously reads this stuff, lol. Maybe he himself should listen more to his citizens and real facts , and less to rumors or lies or opinions of the anonymous. If you know what I mean, mayor. And I use the term mayor with the utmost respect he so deserves.

It was never approved by either the water or planning boards, from what I understand, right? So is it back to the drawing board? If Capitan, specifically the mayor, hates the way rumors fly, he should be more forthcoming with information about the town for the citizens. They are the ones he was elected to work for, remember? He seems to have forgotten that on so many occasions.
Read your Capitan water bills. Isn't that really insensitive to the citizens? So very concerned about so called rumors. What about any issues that are not rumors?

We need a jeopardy- esque game show four our royal batallion of mayors to compete on. It has to be National because the folks in Dallas think I make this crud up. PICTURE THIS...the mayors of ruidoso down, ruidoso and capitan going head to head. We could pull the questions from the fifth grade classroom. MORE FUN STILL.. lets do it family feud style and each mayor could have his posse with him. And some posses might contain a sheriff and others would contain a fake German. MORE FUN STILL..we do it Jerry Lewis style and all the good people watching will sense our suffering and phone in generous pledges. We could use the money to buy.... well water..

Hmmm, the county held a meeting and discussed the availability of water and " gives possible pause to new subdivisions......"

Read it in the : Ruidoso Free Press , County Commission meeting.

Hmm, all the surrounding areas are very concerned with the water situation and drought, etc. but Capitan wants to just give it away.

Read it in all the local Papers the last few weeks.

Hmm, maybe that mayor is not Capitans' best or brightest choice.

Three meetings. Did you attend any?

This is a State of New Mexico "Comprehensive Plan" funded by the NM Department of Finance and Administration. Most, if not all of the municipalities in the state prepare Comprehensive Plans about every ten years.

A synopsis of the three meetings can be found at the Capitan website.

http://villageofcapitan.org/villageGovernment...

The contractor that is preparing the plan held these meetings to get input and feedback from the community.

The contractor requests community members to contact them for additional input and will hold additional public meetings in January/February.

Seriously, the people have no say in this matter . It will be rammed down their throats sooner than later. And they will be paying for it for years to come.
A done deal. What is this planning board thinking? Perhaps the thinking is being done for them?

.....that's kind of the point. Isn't it What? The already dwindling population will be responsible for it all and the infrastructure long after the developer has sold his lots and gone. Of course no one believes hundreds are going to flock to Capitan any time soon.

Sadly, you seem so proud of this. It all seems very déjà vu to me.

Heard this new subdivision is not going to happen. I appreciate all who worked so hard on this. You proved citizens can and should have a say in the process of local government decisions.

Why is there never any news such as this is the local papers? What "happens in Capitan stays in Capitan " seems to be on ongoing theme there.

But this is good news....for the citizens.

So what happens to that trading post now? Was the land not annexed already for that?
Does this mean no fast food and no pharmacy? And who gets to use that land now? Is it for sale? Does Capitan have to maintain it?

The Capitan Dead Enders Group and Trustes WON!!

What happens next is the commercial property and the unannexed 1200 acres will be given to the Village of Capitan to be used as open space.

Note: For those who are totally clueless and/or Nuts, this comment is pure fiction (that means it is not true). Keep Dreaming...

Shamus, I am dreaming! Dreaming and hoping that this has helped open the door to better discussions between the Trustees of Capitan (who ARE the caretakers of the town ) and the Citizens of Capitan ( who HAVE the right to be involved ) for all future decisions about Capitan.

You have a nice day now.

I was wanting to know this too. Someone made the statement, would be nice to know what they meant. Hard to tell if they are for or against the subdivision. And the trustees. Interesting to say the least. What did they mean?
