In 2015 you will see the former Aldermen and Mayors try to get back in power. DO NOT VOTE THEM BACK!!! They are just as responsible for the crap we deal with now as anyone. We continue to pay the price for the Oak Forest Gateway project that EVERY former alderman voted for.

Do not trust them at all. NEW leadership in every ward and in the mayors office. Fire Dotson, Richmond, Gerdes, and a whole slew of others that refuse to work for anyone other then themselves.

I can see that happening. Who do you think is going to run? For Mayor, I can't see anyone voting for Kelly because of how Laycoax was handled plus if I recall correctly, a lot of people didn't like her harsh personality. Richmond? Many say he may as well be the mayor now. Gordon? The public works guy went down under him. Maybe they are thinking if no one else is going to run, they might as well toss their hat in.

Cindy at the Park District sure is Cavalier about the whole incident. She knows their is no accountability for most of the sports programs and is hoping nobody digs any deeper into how our tax dollars are spent.

I have been watching Oak Forest politics for many years and Gary Gerdes is possibly the best and smartest Building Commissioner we have ever had. I must assume you have some creditable information as to specific wrongdoings on his part. If you have no specific evidence you can only be a political hack, or someone who lost a city job because of your incopitence, probably the latter.

Why does one person believe they must resign and the other one just wants to keep going on as nothing has ever happened? This just places the citizens in a very bad position.

In every elected position there is a way to remove the person if they can not act in their duties... if we can remove a governor or a judge I'm sure there is an option tor a park board member... look into the by laws that set up the park district.

I am not so sure you are correct here. Take Michelle Sopko and her position on the school board. I remember reading that if she did not resign there wasn't anything that could have been done to remove her. I believe Kadner has written about this in the past too. These people can get elected and never show up to a meeting. How is that representing the people that elected them?

Look at the by laws ..... if powerful people can be removed then these too can be removed. I suspect that its a case of not wanting to remove a "buddy "

I'm sure some of you big mouth know it all's can take the initiative and get petitions signed for a re-call election. Better hurry though, he might be found not guilty by then, What would you whiners do then?

I do believe there was an incident with a previous Park Board elected Commissioner that missed more than a few meetings and the Park Board of OF tried to vote the person off the board. Not sure if it ever happened, but I know it was moved on in the board meetings. I believe it was 6 or 8 years ago, so would have to look it up!

As for guilt or innocence, this will take a year or two to complete and don't see the State's Attorney changing any stance on this so it will take a long time before it gets resolved, I guess the park district can probably wait that long! Maybe the President of the Park Board should find out the status of the VP and let the community know what is going to happen? Seems there are Board members that want to see this move forward, with or without the VP. What charges could this VP still get convicted under and still be able to hold this office?

The poster nailed it earlier regarding Toland. Just caught this tonight while catching up on news

Oak Forest Alderman Chuck Toland has repaid nearly $18,000 to a youth sports organization he served as treasurer, money he said he accidentally spent, records and interviews show ...

http://my.chicagotribune.com/#section/-1/arti...

Dotson, Toland, Kelly, Richmond, Kuspa, Ishler, all need to go. On the fence about Simon, but he should be going out to pasture soon anyways. That's just naming a few. This town ain't Cicero or Chicago but there is way to much backslapping, Good Ole Boy antics and cheerleaders propping up them.

Thanks to Pruitt for doing the right thing. Too bad nobody had the balls to step up and go to the police when it was originally discovered. Now Toland had time to cover his tracks and put his own spin on the story. This was no accident. No wonder he defended Sopko, he was walking in his footsteps.

Alderman Toland.... you don't think Charlie Sopko had a part in this thievery?? He must be a good friend of yours for you to throw yourself in his corner like this. I hope you don't have the same moral standards that Sopko has or that makes me think this corruption is business as usual in this town.
You should be more concerned about whether this couple robbed Oak Forest in the past. I have a feeling you are not to motivated to do some digging on this subject??

The city is a disgrace and an insult to people trying to raise families with integrity and basic life values. Your town, our former residence, is corrupted and completely void of honest leadership. Oak Forest used to be a great place to live, but now it belongs on the scrapheap list of worst places to live in Illinois. The corruption of ethics there is a shame, and no one accepts the accountability for their actions or lack thereof.

Tired of this town being such a joke. Its time for a real change. Get rid of all the beer swilling bar buddies. Lets get some people with real integrity. Please stand up against corruption and vote on new leadership. Also, if my partner was bringing home an extra 350000 dollars I would know about it. What a joke.

This is absolutely unreal. Accidentally ran up 18K on a credit card. And nobody does a thing. How can this be? What does it take for OF residents to realize that things are really shady in the City. It has to stop.

Why didnt the Raiders press charges? Why do they cover this up? Why do people like this get a pass? If I took $18,000, I would be in jail.
