To fire bro read the post, Greer had to be taken home on Saturday, this happened on Sunday, he has had a heart transplant, he has to take medicine to prevent rejection and no doubt blood thinners, he is lucky he was not killed by being knocked around by this bigger and stronger person and as far as using a weapon to defend himself I see no problem with his explaining he was in fear of serious physical injury or death and was justified in doing so!

Mr Greear was attacked in his own yard (grass stains on his clothes) and repeatedly kicked while on the ground(bruises over his body). Mr Steele is lucky that he did not cause Mr. Greear's death(heart transplant recipient). Mr. Steele made a bad mistake in seeking the altercation.

You people shouldnt go off running your mouths about shit you have no clue about. If you dont have anything better to do then get on here behind a screen name and talk crap, then maybe you shoukod try a job.my best friend happen to be on the back of the bike with Pat that day when Dewey or whatever his name is decided he wanted to act bad and almost hit them twice.

Such a shame that we let anger control our lives. Does anyone know what Dewey did to tick pat off? Let this be a lesson for sure. Don't follow someone home looking for trouble. He's lucky Dewey didn't have a gun.

The Independent

ASHLAND — A retired city fire department captain was stabbed Sunday evening when police say a road-rage incident between him and another motorcyclist escalated into physical violence.

Patrick Steele, 52, of Ashland, was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center following the incident, which occurred about 7:45 p.m. in the 2500 block of Central Parkway.

According to Ashland Police Department Maj. Mark McDowell, Steele was apparently angered by something another motorcycle rider, Dewey Greear, 57, did and rode to his house to confront him.

A fight ensued, during which Steele was stabbed with a pocket knife, McDowell said.

Greear was charged with first-degree assault. He wasn’t arrested, but was cited to court after complaining of a medical emergency, McDowell said. He was taken to King’s Daughters Medical Center.

Greear has filed a cross-complaint against Steele for fourth-degree assault, which is under review by County Attorney Phillip Hedrick, McDowell said.

Fourth-degree assault is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail. First-degree assault is a Class B felony that carries a 10- to 20-year prison sentence.

Steele was taken initially to KDMC before being transferred to St. Mary’s, McDowell said. He was listed in stable condition Monday, a St. Mary’s spokeswoman said.

Greear remained in KDMC Monday. He was listed in good condition, hospital spokesman Tom Dearing said.

Did the altercation take place at this man's home? If it did, and that is how it appears, how did Mr. Steele end up there if he didn't follow him?

If it were me, Mr Steele would have met Gaston Glock .45 between the eyes. Be careful of who you follow because some carry more than pocket knives

Pat spent a long time saving people and going where pussies won't.they need to hang that sob for attempted murder.
He's not a fireman anymore. Being a retired fireman doesnt give him the right to go onto someone's property looking for a fight. That was just plain stupid. And didnt this fireman follow someone to their house to confront them? Again, stupid. He's lucky he only got stuck.

Pat should have just kept his head on and not got into a fight that he could of avoided. But on the other hand the other dude may have overreacted by stabbing him. I like Pat but he has about as much muscle on him as a 12 year old girl, he couldn't of looked that threatening. Im glad nobody is dead. Maybe Pat will learn to quit getting in fights now that he is 0 and 2 just since he retired.
A case of road rage can get out of hand fast. I grew up with Pat and I know Dewey. If someone followed e onto my property in an irrate state I carry a gun I probably would have shot him. You can't go on people's property and attack them. You move along. I am sure we have all had road rage one time or another. I would never follow someone home and get out and attack them. Pat has a mouth on him and all of you that know him have to agree. Ex fire chief or not. He is a citizen and has no more rights that you or I. I a sorry this happened. But I am on Dewey's side as I have heard both sides. I may have been in the middle or oh well if he hadn't went on Dewey's property irrate.

First off if you don't know the situation mind your own business. Dewey has had a heart transplant and is thankful to God for a second chance at life. He would have in no way put his life in danger he has to much to loose. You don't follow someone on their own property and attack them. Most would have shot him and it could have ended worse. Being a firefighter makes him no better than any other citizen. We must all follow the law.

Yes he is. I have known him for 30 years. He gets along with most people. He speaks his mind if need be. I am so glad he is ok. He is so thankful he got a second chance at lie I don't believe he would put himself in such danger and I know pat since we were kids. He has a mouth on him. Thinking and praying for Dewey. Sorry all this had to happen.

Thank God Dewey is ok. He had it really hard for a while. I worked with him when he was really sick. He would never do anything to hurt his second chance at life. Good man and great friend.
