To the person with the vested interest in White Sulphur and Ronceverte...you're absolutely right...and the three from Ronceverte are no longer there...and White Sulphur was the Ambulance agency, not the fire department...of which absolutely zero dollars will go to...why is it that a bunch of idiots can talk good people out of the right thing to do...$30,000 is what the general range of the salary will be...and we are basis the fact that one person will take money from you? How the hell can you figure that? We have no idea who.will be placed in that position, but he will have oversight from at least 3 places...the fire board, the county commission, and the state auditors office...If he or she is able to pull off stealing money for any amount over any period of time with that oversight, I'd shake his hand for being a genius!

levy supporter you said he will get $30,000 and the rest of the $100000 goes to run his office . HOW about $377000.00 what happens to that????

Yes..I did...and you said that he would be getting 20% of the collected money...when it clearly states in the literature on gcfera.org that he will get 5%...now, everyone that reads this van go read that for themselves...see what it says...and then base their opinions on who is telling the truth. If you have literature in hand that says that, you are a.) reading it wrong, b.) have received bad information from a questionable source, or c.) out right full of bullshit...mine is black amd white, and everyone can go view it...it also mentions about personal property...something you claim is being kept quiet...I would opine that you need to have your facts straight before you start feeding these "facts" of yours to the voting public that may believe your fantasy of what is going to happen...

Funny you should think I'm the only one who can do it. would it surprise you that over half of the members of some local departments are second and third generation volunteers. unfortunately we cannot compare the times they lived in to ours. expenses increase and insurance companies don't have sympathy. since this forum is for Alderson go to Alderson and ask them if they trust the departments there to help them. I was there during the derecho fighting everyday to help people. Alderson hasn't had for fees in years and neither dept there bills anyone for fire services. I can guarantee you that I will be paying just as much on this as anyone. but I encourage you to call your insurance company and ask how much less you would be paying if the ISO rating for your local department goes down. I would bet that you will save more than you pay if that happens and it only happens if the fire dept can upgrade the equipment they have. please call and ask I'm interested to know the answer.
Let's talk insurance and ISO Ratings. Since 75% of people live in rural area's in Greenbrier County, our ISO rating will never go down unless we have Fire Hydrant's, right? Everyone knows it is impossible to put fire hydrants in the country unless you install Dry Hydrant's something I tried to do for my community years ago but the department over ruled me saying it was too expensive and too much work. Now I ask you will Dry hydrants be placed in every water source in every part of the county to bring this ISO rating down or will this money just go for new fire trucks and equipment? I bet not the first dry hydrant is put in because it is too much work, right??????

levy supporter I have it in black...the proposed levy order (wolford ) presented Presented to the three commissioners provides that 80 percent goes to the certified departments . the remaining 20 percent of the money goes to the fire coordinator's office!!and the first year the levy if passed will raised approximately 1886000.00 dollars and 20 percent goes to the fire coordinator 377000 dollars and that dose not add up ... if you take 20 percent of 1886,000.00 you will get 377,200.00 am i wrong in my math ?

Your math looks right to me. They just want to keep pulling the wool over everyone's eye's or maybe there are 2 figure's, the one they want us to see and the one being voted on? The problem is they want all new equipment, truck's ect. I have seen what they do with new equipment after the novalty wears off. It gets thrown in a corner somewhere. I know one department who bought a $4,000.00 generator years ago to run the whole dept. when the power is out. A few months ago I saw it sitting behind the station , not hooked up with weeds growing up around it and you want to raise my taxes for this??

gbc fire:
I live so far from a VFD that my insurance rate will never go down.
You insist on me paying for other peoples fire protection--WHY? pay your own way!!
Misquoting me will make you no less wrong.
Levy Supporter:
I'm sure you are aware the EMS and FD are hand and glove within the VFDs.
Not saying that the Fire Commissioner will steal, but if they do I will not consider them a genius. I would put them in prison for being a thief.
If his fire levy passes, I,ll bet that there will be a EMS levy within 5 years and Police levy in 10 years.
ps; I'll have plenty of extra money because gbs fire is dead wrong about my insurance rates--just shows his/her ignorance while parading around as an expert!!

The figures fire departments are talking are way different than what county commission and accessors office have. Fire department just sugar coating trying to get it to pass so they can continue to play on our hard earned buck! Get out and vote NO on this! I have a camp on river trail and i will be forced to pay more taxes on this for fire protection and i cant even get insurance on this because of no access, no power, no phone service, not a residence etc. MAJOR RIPOFF!Have family that has 392 phone exchange and pays tax to rupert but dont even live near there. Also a major Rip off !!!

did anybody hear 59 news tonight? clintonville fire department received a 50000.00 dollar grant from the government to buy new equipment with I think that is great! the other departments should do like wise there is other money out there if they would ask for it. or do they not have anybody to write the grants for them or know how.

Thats the problem, they will continue to get grants after they rape the good people of Greenbrier county. Some departments already get a municipal fire tax,.5% State money that already comes from your homeowners Insurance. There will be departments in the county bringing in over $300,000.00 for the year, thats crazy. Lets stop this Levy "VOTE NO"....
