Members of the Folsom Volunteer Fire Company got a rude awakening this morning when they received a call from the Borough saying that they would be removing their trucks and outsourcing their services.

finally some one did something with this ailing organization. Yes its a shame it had to come to the closing, but it was needed. NOW STOP...I'm not taking
any sides but there are many comments and stories being made by the Folsom members that just are not true. my family moved here the same year the Folsom fire dept was formed and have seen members come and go, and over the last ten years MOSTLY GO! I don't know why the are lying but they haven't had 10-15 fire fighters for over 20 years. I'd like them to show their roster and see who is actually on there. there may be members but just about all but couple are over the age 50, and older. How much fire can or will they actually fight. are the going to put on the necessary equipment and be able to rescue someone from a burning building? I dont think so, the will wait for a neighboring department like hammonton, collings lakes, or newtonville to get there and do it. So after all maybe its is a good thing for the "public safety" of the people.

Common sense, we have no problem showing you our roster, their ages, and exactly how many members we have responding to every call. Just like I have no problem posting my real name on here for everyone to see. Not one of our members is "lying" as you accuse us of. You do the math, we have 12 members who respond to most calls and another 3 who don't show up as regularly, and with 9 seats on 2 trucks, what seems to be the problem? Where is the manpower issue when we have more members then we do seats? Yes we're not a company with 30+ members, we don't have all the bells and whistles that the surrounding companies do, or a 200,000 dollar budget, making it that much harder to pull in younger members. Yes, we're not perfect, no FD is, but we don't miss calls, or "wait" for a surrounding company to handle our calls like you say we do. And for further reference, I'm well under 50 years of age, as is over half of our membership. I'm sure sometime sometime next week we'll be having another public meeting at the station, why don't you stop down and come to us with your concerns, and get answers?

There is only 2 members that are out of town and are only around during day but they always attempt to make all calls do u no math if u take 2-15u get 13 we only have 9 seats on the trucks dumb ass put your name out instead of hiding behind a screen name just another person who doesn't know the situation but cant hold his tounge come on you r suppose to support volunteers not slam them do u remember the house fire on park ave in the summer we had more members from Folsom then collingslakes do even know how many times we got trucks out and went on calls either in Folsom or the lakes and they didnt have anyone around do your homework before type dumb messages that works vice versa and they helped us when needed and we help them that is why so if your screen name means anything it's that u lack or have no common sence !!!!!!!!!!

More tuff than some of folsoms members... If there is so much to fight for, why are there members looking to join elsewhere already? Do they know they are fighting for something that really isnt worth fihting for?? Do they really know the truth?

Its funny how people like to bash something they know nothing about. Im currently in the military as a firefighter and i am upset about the closure of the firehouse. No one will ever know what it is like to have someones life in there hands unless they do our job. It does not matter the age of a member as long as when those tones drop they put their bunker gear on and hop on their rig to help you. What if something happens and the surrounding depts. cant make it in time and the only ones that could have helped were Folsom firefighters. Your going to feel dumb. So I ask you Maam or Sir, go to a Fire Dept. and ride along for a few calls and see what its like to pull someone out of a burning building or respond to a fatal motor vehicle collision and see if your mind changes.

Thank you

It ain't over yet you will eat those words I'm willing to bet on it they did and have done stuff over the last 2years that was and is illegal no resident knows because they do the talking in a meeting before they go on tv then just address the issues as numbers I'm sure you know this won't be the first time the ball less mayor will be wrong if u know so much how did he fire a perfectly good clerk that he didn't get along with and one that spoke her mind for a nother one he knows he can control and she will do the illegal stuff !! What happened in the end to the old clerk I believe she made out pretty well considering it coated the taxpayers over 300thousand just in attorney and court fees not including the back pay and the settlement she received from the town looks like that backfired on him now doesn't it we won't give up and if we have to the men that care will fight to the end and the Folsom fire company will come out on top!!!!

I think "more common sense" should be ashamed of him or herself for the comments posted on here. You are bashing an organization of VOLUNTEERS to the borough of Folsom, who are guilty of what exactly, wanting to continue to volunteer to serve the residents of Folsom. It is not like this was a mutual decision for the betterment of Folsom. They did not want the company to close and from all of the information out there have never missed a call. And from the numbers I have seen in budget plans and the papers, it looks like it will actually cost the residents of Folsom more money. How dare you talk about the age of members and use that as a further reason for bashing a hardworking VOLUNTEER organization. Shame on you!!

once again we have people who are afraid of the truth, but oh well. So dont worry because the town is WELL PROTECTED and residents and the public are safe!

What exactly am I afraid of? You missed the entire point of my posting. Stop bashing a volunteer organization that did nothing but serve YOUR community
