Good Luck to Mr. Welch and his retirement! Rumor has it that he will be replaced by a POS 30 year veteran by the name of Joe Walko. This clown's only claim to fame is that he is a clone of the current Chief Tony Pol. 100% politician all the way (like Tony Pol) and Joe Walko was never an officer NOR has he ever passed the exam....just like Tony Pol!
Further more my sources say that Mr. Walko is the president of the Wattsburg District School Board and the proof of his failure is evidenced by the condition of the Seneca school system. They lower the standards to enable failing kids to pass, instill no discipline in the kids and allow the "special needs" kids to run the school. If the Wattsburg School District is any indication of how Mr. Walko is going to serve the citizens of Erie, the taxpayers and department as a whole is in BIG trouble!

Are there two bigger ass clowns than these two in the fire deparment?

Why does Sinnott continue to promote idiots and incompetents?

No those 2 are the top ass clowns but there are two others who are giving them a run for their money. The first is Vance Duncan the training officer who fluffs off his responsibilities of training the new hires. When Mr. Duncan does any training, he either does hands on drills with the firefighters by getting a state instructor (whom the City pays) to come up to Erie and do Mr. Duncan's job for him OR he reads power point to a bunch of grown men and women. The other is the current Chief Fire Inspector Guy Santone. Before getting that position, Mr. Santone was also was like Tony Pol and was never an officer and couldn't pass the officers exam. Mr. Santone also had never trained or attended ANY schooling for Fire Inspection and HAD NO PRIOR INSPECTION EXPERIENCE. When the Chief Fire Inspector position became available, there were several candidates that were more qualified than Mr. Santone and yet Mr. Santone's empty resume won. Chief Tony Pol claimed, "He interviewed well".??????? That must be code speak for, "He has no gag reflex". Both the above mentioned (Duncan and Santone) are prime examples of the term, "failing upwards" and the City would get a better return on their money by investing in Zebra Muscles.

Roughly. Not that great considering our state and federal senators and congresspeople get 6 figures easily AND full paid medical benefits for life. Most people have to work 20 years to get a pension and our state and federal senators and congresspeople need to work a minimum of ONE TERM or 2 years.

I like how people have rated me "clueless" and disagree but shed no information on why they do so. That makes your ratings credibility USELESS!
30K to 40K for a pension pales in comparison to what the Politicians and CEOS are making. You disagree?
If you feel I am clueless then site your source and put up some information. Educate me.

Well I see they went ahead and did it. 2 words for Mr. Walko, DRUG TEST. Sources say that he is dirtier than a 5 dollar hooker. He must have one hell of a silk throat. Sources say that Chief Pol never conducted interviews for the position and when his men asked him about it, he blamed the Mayor saying that it was HIS choice. Chief Pol, you know as well as I do that the Mayor does make the appointments but only AFTER your recommendations.
The citizens of Erie need to realize that their tax dollars are being wasted on the likes of Joe Walko, Tony Pol, Guy Santone and Vance Duncan.
I pray for the current members of the Erie Fire Department!
Great job, EFD. You just promoted a guy who was the worst possible representative of the EFD back when he headed the local union years ago.
Joe Walko was an absolute public relations disaster. He did more to harm the image of local firefighters than anyone else in recent years.
Remember when Walko(from his cozy residence out in North East) announced how Erie residents shouldn't mind having to dole out more in taxes so our city could continue to grease the status quo of the inflexible Erie Fire Fighters, most of whom don't even reside in the city?

You couldn't have promoted a better example of someone whose very face exemplifies the bloated, selfish and inflexible modern-day Erie firefighter.

I knew that if I waited long enough the king of distorting the information (TaxNoMore) would appear. Thanks for not disappointing!
First off schmuck, you try to distort the figures to make them seem larger than they are. You mention how a FF making 75K is actually making twice that with bennies. Where does this factor in with the pension? IT DOESN'T! Even with 401K monies, you are not guaranteed that type of return. Furthermore, A FF's pension is HALF what their annual salary is NOT 100%! No one in PA makes that type of pension to salary ratio except the politicians. Fact of the matter is, a FF making 75K a year (If that) would retire at 50% pension meaning that they would make roughly 37.5K a year in pension.
Nice how you posted a blog article that does not use Erie's actual numbers.
Nice try loser. Dennis Weed; Still a jealous cocksucker.

And written like the typical Fireman--living in "Fairview", sucking off the Erie taxpayer for all you can get and having no stake or true interest in the community paying your living.

Dude you couldn't be further off! Try to keep up with that pea-sized brain of yours, OK? Those of you who have been keeping track of my posts know that I am a school teacher with the City of Erie. Got it so far? Now just because the forum says "Fairview" that doesn't mean that is where I live. That is simply where the internet server that handles my internet service is from. Am I going too fast? I have been on this forum for over a year now because I am tired of losers like you criticizing people like me who made the right decisions in life and came out ahead. I don't give a damn about you or what the tax payers think. Got it dip $hit? If you don't agree dial 1-800-UBLO-WME. There is NOTHING you or anyone else can do about it. TaxNoMore has been trying for YEARS and despite his posts, nothing changes. 2 months from now, everyone here will be mad a GE worker or an Erie Insurance employee and all of this will fade. By the time May/June rolls around, us school teachers will be in the firing line because we get the summers off and some WAH WAH cry baby doesn't. LEARN TO DEAL LITTLE BOY!

Pennsylvania Municipalities Finding Hands Tied on Liability to Pay Illegal Firefighter Pensions
"A firefighter in Allentown, Pennsylvania, which plans to lease its water system to meet retirement costs, left last year with an annual pension of $99,289, more than double what state law says was due.
Most municipalities in the state, home to a quarter of U.S. public pension plans, show similar disregard for local statutes ...
The liability for the extra payments may approach $1 billion[.]"
Gregory Scheirer, the fireman who retired last year with the $99,289 pension,
left at 52 after 26 years of service and receiving a leadership award.
His is the biggest pension among police and fire personnel in Allentown, said Mike Moore, a city spokesman.
.
.
.
.
His annual payment was 29 percent greater than his salary,
.
.
(their annual salary is NOT 100%!)
.
.
.
.
and the payout should’ve been $38,491 under state law, according to Strathearn.

Still a stupid cocksucker, huh teach?
YEP! Your example is from ALLENTOWN or did you misunderstand? Please list any and all known FF's, police, PennDot or teachers from the Erie area, earning a pension of 99K or greater. You can't. Again, you try to inflate the numbers in order to pursue your motive of inflaming Government Union employees. Face it, you're jealous. If I were in your shoes I would be too!
Any links to this story or should we take your word for it?

barker
Barker wasn't in our Union when he was Superintendent. That was all admin. The Union does not have the right to dictate policy to admin./management. We were reminded of this by him on several occasions. Still, you bring up Altoona's problems and Allentown's fiasco. No problems like that here. Could be a simple cleric error. Even if it's not, you imply that ALL FF's across the state are pulling in 6 figure pensions and are millionaires. It'll only be a matter of time before you try to pull us teachers in with them. Only 2 examples are cited. How about listing all the FF's on pension that aren't pulling in at least 60K? How about listing the FF's who aren't millionaires? Try not to include "unrealized income" like 401K's and the value of insurance etc. etc. Include only revenue and sources of revenue that can be used as a down payment or collateral when applying for a loan with a bank. Cash is king not "potential cash" that may or may not be earned or realized.
You won't because it paints a better picture than what you are trying to depict.
