If world renowned theoretic physicist Steven Hawkings has become a truck driver then it would surprise the hell out of me since he has been in a wheel chair for over forty years. The fact that I even have to put Steven in front of than me Hawkings only demonstrates your ignorance on the subject. This is not the opinion of one man and according to Paul Davies there is now general agreement among physicists and cosmologists.
I posted several times that I can cite the calculations involved and this does not even take into consideration Roger Penrose calculation concerning the probabilities of the initial conditions happening by chance which again he puts at 1 10^10^(123. If you had even a simple background in math you would be bale to appreciate the odds involved and the implications of the numbers cited.
"You can not determine the probability of something occurring if there is even one variable in the equation which is unknown"
This not based on one equation but on a host of many different cosmological and Hubbel constants that are known and have been known for a while. Hey listen, if you think that all these cosmologist and physicist are wrong concerning a quantifiable and empirical observation. One that even the militant atheist Richard Dawkins admits is a tough nut to crack and calls the best evidence of a designer. Then you can also write a paper and submit it for peer review. In fact you have every right to question and be skeptical of any scientific construct or theory, and I encourage you to do so. We know of one type of life intelligent life and we know that without these exquisite ratios and parameters, we could not exist. You can believe in reptilians, grey's or any type of little green men that you like, but again we are dealing with observable data, and not assumptions or extrapolations such as the outdated Drake equation or the many assumptions of the equally outdated neo Darwinian synthesis.
In summation,

That it could happen this way is amazing.
It did happen.

Got anything with substance yet May?
Like a "scientific theory" of ID?

Thought so.
No I'm not appealing to authority. However I am appealing to observable and quantifiable empirical data. Yeah I already answered the theory part several times. Sorry, but I got tired of repeating myself.
If your truly concerned then go back and read my former post again and again until you get it. I have already heard your neo Darwinian mantra. Natural selection, mutation and other. You dont even know how to explain the theory that you profess to believe in any detail, but I cant really blame you because there are no detailed accounts of evolution through any neo Darwinist means, and in the end, all you are left with is reciting a mantra.

I didn't realize I was YEC because I have always thought the earth was a lot older than 6 thousand years, but thanks for letting me know. You learn something new everyday. I mean only you, a complete stranger could know what I Believe more than I do. You must be related to Silvia Brown. Can you predict the future too? Who will be the next president? I'm curious to know.

Your very welcome, but to be honest, spending all that time and energy pushing down on H and A keys doesn't sound that pleasant to me. A little creepy yes. Pleasant no. Now picturing Steven Hawkings as a truck driver. Now thats funny. No but seriously, I am really laughing right now, and to prove it, Ill raise you a haha to infinite. Fine Tuning of the Physical Constants of the Universe
ALL of what follows are _claims_ for why a different Universe would be different than ours and unable to sustain life.

Problems:
#1) This very notion implies that there could be multiple different variations of the Universe and therefore must accept the concept of multiple different variations of the Universe. In that case, sharpshooter takes place. Life exists in whichever Universes support life, there is no 'fine tuning'.

#2) These claims are completely theoretical and without experimental evidence. Since the numbers cited are, by their very nature, unchangeable, it's impossible to know for certain how things would behave in a system with different numbers. They are making claims that if Constant X were slightly different then stars would behave a certain way. That may be true, or not. Stars may behave in a completely different way than they are predicting because of many other variables they have not taken into account. That's the problem with untestable claims - you can't test them.

#3) Assuming ALL these claims are true, they can be sorted into two different categories - A) Atoms/Molecules couldn't form or B) Things would be tough for life because of x,y,z. Assuming that everything being said is completely right and we're restricted to a single Universe in which atoms can not form then sure, life has a problem. However, that's only about HALF the stuff listed. You can not make assumptions for what situations are unbearable for life. We've found amino acids on comets. Therefore planets are not necessary, electromagnetic fields are not necessary, reasonable temperatures are not necessary, etc. for the formation of amino acids.

So, again, lots and lots of constants missing one VERY BIG variable = an equation you can not complete.

First, it's "you're" not "your".
Second, it's "Stephen" not "Steven"
Third, it's "Hawking" not "Hawkin", not "Hawkins", not "Hawkings"

Once is a typo. Constantly getting it wrong while citing him as your source is just lazy.

Except you're using it wrong. You're applying to their data your own argument that they are not making. Then complain that we should talk to them when we question your claims. You will find this a problem when attempting to convince others you know what you're talking about, especially as you're confusing cosmological characteristics with probabilities.
THEMAYAN wrote:

You gave a brief overview of the claims of ID without explaining what exactly the theory is. Hence why no-one knows who or what the designer is, what it did, where it did it or when it did it. All you've been able to tell us so far is that something intelligent did something intelligent. But definitely didn't use evolution for some reason.

So don't worry, you don't have to repeat yourself. Providing answers to questions you've never answered is not repetition.

Yet despite this you have not been able to address it. The theory was explained, and you offered nothing in the way of informing anyone you even understood it, much less actually addressing it. That's why so far we have far more evidence, far more explanations, far more testable predictions and far more working mechanisms than ID has. You have big claims, but nothing of substance.

You're welcome. No, you won't be the next president. Presidential candidates tend to have a harder time becoming president if they knowingly lie BEFORE they get into office. Which basically means you're screwed.

However the only thing you learn every day is how to ignore anything you find theologically inconvenient. That's why you're incapable of realizing you're using YEC arguments, then you don't give a shite when it's pointed out numerous times over.

You see we are performing a scientific experiment on you: a demonstration of how not to run for President. Fundie comes along and we test them against reality. We make a scientific prediction that they will lie like hell and act like a douche until eventually wind up an Epic Fail. It's all part of the scientific theory of creationists. An example would be Santorum's bid for Prez, and you follow that route to perfection, meaning in effect you were both doomed from the start. In all my years here to date I've only encountered one intellectually honest creationist. It's probably redundant saying, but it wasn't you.

Seconded. I mean thirded. Or... whatever.

Anyway, it was actually more of an added qualifying statement than a question in itself. I was referring to the fact that Hawking doesn't preclude the possibility of complex life in other universes - at least if they have more than 2 dimensions that is. Something which May would know had he actually read his stuff.

As it is he can't even get his name right.

On a separate note Hawking is also a signatory of Project Steve.
