Evolution or Intelligent Design?

Sep 24, 2010 Full story: New University 590

The UC Irvine community was given a chance to witness an intellectual debate aimed at broadening the perspective on the origins of life on May 7. 'A Colloquium on Origins: Evolution and Intelligent Design' featured two experts on the origin theory of intelligent design: Paul Nelson, a senior fellow at the International Society for Complexity ...

The Bible, like Tarot cards, tells you very little. It couches things in colorful language which you can interpret any way you wish.
"I see a change coming in your future". What does that really mean?
The Bible lacks specifics and where it has specifics, they are typically wrong.
Bats are not birds. Grasshoppers have six legs. Rabbits are not a kind of cow. etc.
If you want to say:
"Hey, there was this guy Jesus and he said to do things a certain way." That's fine.
Though, I think what you really believe is this:
"There was this guy Jesus. We pretend to like him, but actually hate everything he stands for and systematically vote for people who say the like Jesus but never for people that act like Jesus."
People who stand on their faith in God are acting like Jesus.

Not if they behave in the opposite manner that Jesus taught.

The GOP shrouds themselves in a cloak of Christianity.

Tell me, what was Jesus' position on taxes?
What was Jesus position on giving to the needy?
What was Jesus position on helping the sick?
What was Jesus position on condemning women for having sex?
What was Jesus position on how you treat your enemies?
What was Jesus position on capital punishment?

How do these positions compare to the GOP?

If you are serious, I will try to give my perspective on this at a later time.

I'm completely serious, but your perspective isn't needed.

We know that the GOP stands exactly OPPOSITE of Jesus on all these positions.

The Conservative mindset is one of superiority. People cloak themselves in religion as a means of pretending to be more righteous than the next person, but they have no interest in actually doing what the religion dictates.

Conservatives have only hypocrisy to live by. Without that, they'd have nothing.

If you want to know the truth, simply reverse anything they say.

"Clear Skies" allowed coal burning plants to pollute.
"Healthy Forests" allowed lumber companies to cut any tree they wanted.
"WMD" meant that Iraq had none and wasn't pursuing any.
"War on Christmas" means forcing other religions to worship your holiday.

Fake fossils only hurt progress for the theory of evolution. They have never helped it. I can name only two fakes that could be said to have been done by "pro-evolution" people. Actually they were done by people trying to take advantage of the science. I could name a few more purposely harmful fakes.

Even so, they don't do as much damage as fake Gods do.

If there's a cover up then you have no evidence of anything being proven fake. But then you already admitted that.

Turns out we actually HAVE fossils which were proven fake. Know by who?

The evil evolutionary scientists using evolutionary science you reject in the first place. And they HAVEN'T been covered up.

There are BILLIONS of fossils. I have fossils in my drawer right now that I bought on ebay.

The idea that _ALL_ fossils are fake is just INSANE.

You can go to literally thousands of people in the US where you can pick up a random rock, split it open and find a fossil.

How VAST a conspiracy would you need to be able to pull that off?

Let's do a little mental test for you:

Is it more likely that there is a 10,000 year long conspiracy of scientists from all over the Earth planting evidence to support a theory which wouldn't be named until 9,850 years later.

-OR-

Is it more likely that a wild ass guess by some Jewish goat herders may have gotten the specifics wrong about the distant past.

What would an intelligent person pick?
